Don't know why, but now my choke is averaging 35 in game. I drop down too 0 for a bit, but then i rise back up. The highest it has gone is 70, which happens frequently. My FPS is normal for my 7900GTX, just can't figure out why my choke would be, except for maybe a setting that needs to be changed. Would anyone know?

    Thanks

I'm as shocked as you, but I would guess by reinstalling some graphics driver or even worse reinstalling CS. Give that a try.

Choke? Ah - ping. Well, I would not be all that concerned . . . people with higher pings can cause you to have a higher one, and it is also somewhat dependant on the server and how many people are on it.

But its constant everywhere, which has me puzzled. I know it wasn't like this before, its just recently. It happens in private servers a lot, with just 10 people. And everyones ping is below 50. Mine is usually at 30, depending on server location. I just can't figure it out.

All of a sudden, like i said, this started.

If 70 is the highest pingtime you've ever seen on a CS server consider yourself lucky haha.

I normally have a 25-45 ping in CS, sometimes it is in the 10-20 range, and very rarely it is above 50. I'm surprised you had zero ping before.
If it's constant everywhere, then it probably has to do with your Internet connection . . perhaps your bandwidth is fluctuating or something.

Are you connecting over wireless? I find my ping flucuates when I connect through my wireless router more than when I connect wired.

Let me make sure you guys understand this. My Ping is perfect. Im always in the low 30's, and go down in the single digits depending on server location. My internet connection is at 8mpbs, so its not that.

I use "net_graph 3", to display my fps, choke, etc. No one else im playing with has this bad choke, its just me.

It is probably the other server, Nick - have a look at this explanation:

    In your console, set "cl_cmdrate 60" and "cl_updaterate 60".

Play for about 5 min and watch for choke. If there is 0-1 choke, increase by 5. Repeat and once you start getting choke, decrease by 5.

Alright, im going to look into both your ideas. Earlier i had a BSOD, and the error was with one of the GPU driver files. (Or the driver itself, can't remember).

I also had my FPS lock at 30 again for a bit, and its off and on. I had this issue, but it was 60 last time.

Im reformatting now, with new GPU drivers that look pretty good. Wish me luck

... type rate 20000... i really wouldnt mess with the cl_cmrates..you can get some nasty effects...

set rate 20000 and keep cmdrate where it is... also did u set fps_max 101? for cs 1.6 for cs:s set it at fps_max 300.

in cs 1.6 you should be getting a constant 100fps to 99fps... with a 256mb graphics card... from nvidia with updated drivers...

for cs:s probably 110 or 120.. since the cap of 1.6 is 100 and caped for cs:s is 300...

like i said type fps_max 101 for cs 1.6 and for cs:s type fps_max 300 that should solve your locking at 30...
