So it appears the EA/DICE cheaped on the PC server side and didn't anticipate the large volumes of players they were going to receive, and as a result a large number of players cannot connect to the EA servers, or are booted within minutes of playing, me being one of these players.
I feel stupid now defending DICE in the piracy thread, because apparently this has been an ongoing issue for quite some and DICE has apologized, but apparently cannot fix it. Tomorrow I am going to attempt to get my money back or some type of compensation, I haven't been able to play this game for 3 days now and even when I do happen to get in (just once in the last 3 days), it was only for about 2 minutes and then I was booted. I highly doubt I will get anything from EA, but I am going to feel sorry for the EA rep who copy and pastes me some generic crap response.
Is this affecting anyone else? If so I urge you to follow the link below and post on the EA BC2 forums, so far there is a 215 page thread containing people with the same problems. I rarely buy games anymore, and even though it wasn't that much money I deserve to use what I paid for.

It happens to me all the time, more lately. When I first ran into it I reset all my routers, ccleaned my PC, added my machine to the DMZ, etc all with no effect. Then I started reading up on it a bit more and like you see it's a recurring issue that EA is doing nothing about.
-
And you could contact some consumer agency (or the UK group that complained about Black Ops). I mean, these type of games are sold mainly due to their multiplayer components (otherwise they wouldn't sell like pancakes). And thus, like you, said we the buyers are entitled to get at least what we paid for.
-
Good luck. Any concerted efforts in the past to do anything against devs/pubs has been futile. I mean there's been online petitions with 10,000+ signatures that the devs/pubs just ignore.
-
At the very least you can insure not to support such companies in the future by not buying their porducts (I still refuse to get AC2 from Ubisoft, no matter if its DRM has been 'decreased').

Yeah, it happens to me occasionally, only it won't let me join servers and does not kick me while I'm in. I just have to log in/out a few times to actually be able to get into a server without a connection lost error.
-
oh great. I got this over christmas because I had black ops problems and wanted another fps to play, and now this one has problems too? dang.

About 4 days ago I could get into full games, and now it seems to have decayed from there to being booted after half hours, the other day I only was in for 2 minutes(first time in three days), and now I cannot even connect to the ea servers at all.
There is absolutely nothing that can be done on the users end, I have tried every trick in the book, I even called a Rogers(ISP) tech support who said he had two or three calls in the last day regarding this game!
It really is too bad because up until this point I was really enjoying BC2 a lot, but this has just about killed it for me. If they would even just acknowledge there is a problem that would be a start. I woke up late today so I may not be able to call until the weekend now, but I am going to try for a store credit for Dragon Age 2 or something. We will see?
EDIT: After a bit more digging it appears that the devs on the UK forums are responding to this issue, and servers will be down inclusively until Jan 28th. Great... -
I get this same problem, along with no audio occasionally. If i get out of the game and go back in, it usually solves both issues. Sucks, but what can I do?
-
yeah i get this problem all the time... but it eventually subsides after a day or two.
-
I rarely get this error, but when I do, a restart will fix it. It's weird because I can log on, check my stats, search for servers and get full results, but I only get the error when I try connecting to a server. Really weird, but for me it's one of those accepted glitches in the game, which really is sad since I'm getting used to my games having problems with them.....
-
This has only happened to me once, when they did a scheduled maintenance about a day or two ago.
-
It is good to see this is working for some players, it really is a very frustrating problem. I am going to leave it for the weekend and see Monday if anything has changed.

Since there's already a topic for BFBC2 right here, I'll post my question here rather than a new topic.
Anyone else getting obscenely long load times before games? Like during the post-game report, I have to wait 45-60 seconds at least before it gives me the option to join or exit the game. -

Hey at least yours is working lol. I would say try the newest drivers if you haven all ready.
-
I think I'm already using the newest drivers I can, I know that since I have switchable graphics on here I'm fairly limited in the drivers I can use.
-
Oh I didnt know you had hybrid graphics, oh well.
Good news though! I can connect again, what I did.
1. Winkey+r and type "cmd" to open command console
2. Type this "netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled"
3. Press enter and reboot.
I used TCP/IP optimized a few days ago and for some reason I didn't connect it with the issues I was having. Let me know if it works.
I haven't tried connecting to a game yet but I am at least able to connect to the servers again. -
Thanks for that.
One comment it should be Winkey + r, and you have to do it in an elevated command prompt (press Ctrl+Shift+Enter after typing 'cmd'). -
I have no connection issues anymore by the way, played for an hour or so earlier with my usual ~80 in server ping. -
Yeah thanks for that tip though. I seemed to get in fine and overall seemed a little better in general. But that's just today. +1 for your tip!

No problem, I am glad it helped someone else considering how frustrated I have been the last few days or so.
