I think this applies to DX10 also but I have not tested.

I have always wondered why when I get into a game from a new map load that all the vehicles are gone, people have almost already capped the first area, and in general everybody looks like they have been in game for a while...

    Well its because they were...

I didnt really catch on at first as I was new to the game but now I can really tell, and even a few seconds can make a difference. I searched for it on google and found other threads on the issue and it seems to be associated with DX10/DX11.

My computer has always been one of the first to load into games, so it sucks now that I am dead last. Seems ATI noted the load times on the 10.3 Driver Notes as a known problem so lets hope 10.4 fixes it.

For now you can force DX9 in your settings.ini file to fix it and use DX9 instead. There is a loss of graphics but higher FPS as a bonus.

I tried that today and found it wont work for me :( I have the EA Downloader version of the game and when I changed the settings.ini to force DX9 when I try to start the game I get the popup error that there is no game inserted in the disk drive.

I have little hope of being able to bring this to EA' attention and having them fix it on there digital version of the game. So my hopes are probably in the hands of ATI to patch it with the next set of drivers.

The long load times were my really only complaint about this game, its good to know now it was a bug and can be fixed. Especially since you cant quit a game and get your points until after the next round is loaded.

Asus G73 laptop uses ATI 5870 GPU, though I play most of the time on my desktop but it has a 5870 card also.

yeah its a known issue with ATI cards

for comparison i normally load before everyone else and you can always see half your team join the game late...

Yeah on both, the desktop is a stronger card but I run a much higher resolution also. 6004x1200 vs 1920x1080

I feel your pain as I also run an Asus G73 and same thing: all the vehicles are gone and sometimes the M-Coms are almost destroyed. I look forward to the day when I spawn with the rest of the team.

Wow EA, what will your lack of QC fail at next?

/still bitter about crappy C&C3/C&C:Generals network play, always losing sync even over a gigabit network (and no, none of the games were cracked or anything)

I hear ya. I've played Generals over my gigabit network and ridiculous to have dropped games.

Speaking of which, I would love to see a Generals 2. But not if its a consolized piece o crap .
