I have a x1600 and when I play 1.6 on 1280x800, highest settings on opengl I get 100 fps constantly, but when someone throws a smoke my fps goes down to 30. This doesn't really make sense and I think something might be wrong because even in source when someone throws a smoke my fps doesn't go that low.

Yeah i had the same problem, everyone does, that is why you can go into a server and some Jacka$$ will spam smoke grenades

Ok so it's not me, it's the game? It just seems like it never used to happen to me.

It usually takes 4-6 smokes in one concentrated area to do that for me on my X1600. Then again, I play windowed at 1024x768 which might have something to do it. More likely though is the fact that smoke in 1.6 is just layers and layers of millions of grey pixels. Condense like 5 of them in one area and BAM! 25FPS for me :(

BTW, what 1.6 servers do you play on? :D

Yeah, the X1600 does seem to have a problem with a lot of particle effects on screen and such.

Windowd meaning that it isnt full screen, meaning that you do not have concentrate your graphics to a large screen. If you play it in OpenGl the graphics are ALOT better and the is running it on full screen.

That last sentence doesn't make any sense.
