    Hi NBR.

A month ago, I decided to repaste my CPU and GPU ( Dell Inspiron 15R ) because of overheating, I failed 3 times :D and by failing I mean that temps were worse.

I don't know what's the problem I've tried the dot method, the line method and at last I put 3 big dots on the CPU and a size of pea on the GPU. I played Alan Wake for about 10 minutes CPU maxed at 88C but the GPU temp was 93C which is unacceptable since it's only 10 minutes of gameplay.

I used this thermal paste because it's the only thermal paste I found near me :
IC Essential E2 - Cooler Master - Leading Provider of Computer Case | Cooler | Power Supply

MX-4 is availabe but it's hard to get , I need to travel to get it.

Currently, the only thermal pastes being sold near me is this :
5x Thermal Grease Paste Compound Silicone CPU Heat Sink | eBay

    and this generic one :
Stars Heatsink Compound CPU Thermal Grease Single Use Blister 5 Soft Paks | eBay

Should I get the Silicon one, or the temps will be worse?

I appreciate your help guys. Thanks in advance.

So there were pads that you removed and replaced with paste, no?

That explains it. Get rid of them and if that leaves a gap, put in copper shims.

The problem is, in Egypt. It's so hard to find these stuff. All I have is an old heatsink of an old video card ( nvidia quadro 980 xgl ). Other than that there is no copper in my home. :(

Shims aren't a requirement unless you actually need to bridge a gap. Also, I am sure you can find thin sheets of copper in Egypt.

Yes I can but this will not be easy and I'm not that free right now.

Anyway , thanks for your help :) I will just leave everything as it is for now since I have another notebook to game on.
