    Hey everyone,

Surprised there is no thread on this magnificent city simulator. I have it running on my Samsung ultrabook ativ book 9 + at 3200x1800 resolution and it runs beautifully. I just have AA disabled and at this resolution it looks amazing.

Have played it the last week and am very very addicted. :)
However, I can go thee or four hours into it and then my people die from starvation even though I have lots of food. :( and then I need more people but they don't come even when I make new homes. :( :(

How has everyone gone with it and what are gamers thoughts on it?

ive tried it. on my first play through, i had about 50 people before i was hit by starvation. on my second play through, i made sure i had enough fishermen, and gatherer's hut to supply food early in the game. my second play through is still running with a little over 200 people. i have people working on all food producing buildings and still have plenty of laborers to spare. im trying to expand on the other side of a huge lake. it takes a third of a season for my people to cross and go back. several of my people died trying to establish some facilities across the lake. i also have 100% educated citizens. its a great game. the game doesnt hold your hand. if you want a tutorial u need to read a lot. some of the concepts are not clearly stated, which means the player has to experiment with different techniques. once you learn how to play, it becomes really easy.

so few tips for new players:

build houses near a workplace to minimize travel distance.
do not build too many houses too fast, unless you have enough stockpile to support a population boom.
trading posts can be used to stockpile resources for a rainy day.
foresters can also gather rocks and iron.
try to have a variety of foods available to the citizens. (gatherer's hut is very good for this)
educated workers are very valuable but it takes longer to get laborers.

    anyways those are my $0.02

The game is pure trash. I am already deleting the game.

I have to say that I have the same problem. My people would die, I make new house(s) and people never show up.

The game does have some potential but it looks like a late alpha early beta game. Only good thing is the small size of the game around 100mb but who cares if the game doesn't work.

the only way new people would come to your town is when you are already have a well established town. in which case, nomads would arrive. the other option is to wait for babies to be born and grow up to be laborers. only then will they move in to a new house. there's a limit which you can set the food to stop them from producing. i suggest you crank it up. i have mine set to 16,000. if it drops down to 14,000, i tap into my reserve from the trading post and set up more food producing facilities. you should also try building houses close to workplaces to minimize travel and to minimize risk of freezing while traveling. the key for a healthy population is to have diversity of food. gatherer's hut gives plenty of diversity and is very good early in the game. if population health is still deteriorating, herbs could help improve the health of citizens. health of citizens are very important. if a citizen has low health he/she would not produce a baby. with low health the people are more susceptible to diseases and could lead to an outbreak. during winter season, citizens are more likely to get diseases and freeze to death if there isnt enough clothing or firewood for their homes.

the game is not broken. it's just a really tough game. it doesnt hold your hand like simcity. no pop ups saying what you are doing wrong. only a small icon to tell you what your citizens are going through (starvation or freezing). there are a lot of unexplained mechanic in the game. it is up the user to figure it out or someone to guide them through it.

I tried it, but I have more fun with Tropico 4.

I'll give it another hour or two before it's gone for good from my PC.
