Well was checking gamestop today and found out that MLB 2K9 was goint to PC!!!! And i was like WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOFinally after waiting 4 YEARS (since 2005) i can play BASEBALL ON PC AGAIN !!!!

I was an avid TRIPLE PLAY/MVP EA SPORTS series player from 1998 to 2005 (the last one)... But they stopped making baseball games for pc (don't know why, maybe no good profits?) and 2K Sports didn't make them either... In my country the BASEBALL is the national sport, so even when i also play FIFA and NBA series, not being able to play a PC Baseball game (i don't own any consoles) was really sad for me:cry::cry::cry:....
SO Is there another gamer here that used to be an avid PC BASEBALL player and is as excited as me with this new game!!!!???:smile::yes:
-
Now we can only hope that EA decides to bring back madden to PC in 2010.

that's good news, I was unaware that there weren't any baseball games on PC before i sold my 360 and then i went looking for a new baseball game and couldn't find one, now i don't have to figure out a way to afford another console, great news indeed
-
I can't wait! I am a baseball fanatic, and I can never get enough baseball.
-
:O I need to get it, and probably a controller too...
I haven't had a baseball game since...I wanna say MVP 2005, is that the one with Manny on the cover?
I do still have Triple Play 2001 sitting around somewheresquare elbows ftw!
-
-
-
I played all Triple Play/MVP games of the series (actually played Triple Play 1997, the first one  )... I hope EA decide someday to bring back the baseball series... 2K made a good move because it will get all the pc baseball market...
You'll see in the next 1~2 years EA will make a move to get their share in the market... And that's what we all need, several games to choose from... Actually it would be great if SONY decide to bring MLB THE SHOW at least to the PC... It will all depends in how the 2K sells... SO, LETS BUY THE GAME !!  -
Baseball. Isn't that the game where you stand around 98% of the time, swing a piece of wood hoping to hit a leather wrapped piece of rubber?
-
Just checked at Amazon and BestBuy... There's no reason to NOT buy the game if you are a baseball Fan... It retails for just $19.99!!!! GO BUY IT IF YOU LIKE BASEBALL :wink::yes:
-
I like that price, I'm going to need to get that.
anyon have any idea how it would play without a controller? -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
wow $20? I dont watch baseball so i wont buy it but if you like baseball that is an awesome price!
-
-
I'd rather play baseball outside
,
in the sunshine
,
and with friends*
.
(*)-Not my real friends because I play computer games.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
To OP: Ever thought of getting a console...?Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Nah, consoles in my country are way too expensive, and i would get a console only for baseball games... Nah, not worth it... I prefer a Computer because gaming is better here "FOR ME" (don't wanna start a discussion) because i can play FPS whit keyboard, RTS, and can play sport/driving games with a gamepad...
And i play REAL baseball... You know, it's the national sport here, everybody plays it... We have a local amateur championship (neighborhood)... And my company also have a internal championship... I play in those 2 teams
But i love to play Baseball in the PC too -
MVP baseball series disappeared because 2K purchased exclusive MLB franchise rights...just like EA did with the NFL...
The whole situation bothers me so much that I've sworn off sports games...exclusive contracts are great for the sports league (lots more money regardless of how well the game sell) and great for the publisher (no competition), but horrible for the end-consumer...
NHL and NBA still have competition between publishers/developers so you can choose or buy both...meanwhile, EA felt the heat in football (yep...they realized Madden was getting stagnant) so they just prevented all competition...and we've had mostly stale releases ever since...
EA did continue to release college baseball when they lost/refused to pay more for the MLB rights, but I don't think it sold as well (not surprising)...
I won't buy Madden or MVP...just continue to play MVP 2005 when I need a baseball fix... -
-
Last baseball game I ever played was on my SNES 10+ years ago. Good to hear it coming back to the PC then (though I've never played/seen one before
)
-
... And well, a long list of extraordinaries players (Abreu, Ordoñez, Kid Rodriguez, Cabrera, Zambrano, etc etc etc
)... jejejeje
-
This is great news!!!
I thought developers had completely abandoned making baseball PC games. I would have been even more exited if it was MLB The Show 09 being released for PC, but I can only dream.
However, I am still not a fan of the 2K series -- the only thing that really impressed me with 2K8 was the pitching. I really thought they nailed that mechanic, but the hitting was awful -- you would either ground out or hit a home run.
For me the MVP 2005 and MVP NCAA 06 were the best in terms of realistic gameplay. That is the only reason my PS2 is still around...so I can play those two games.
And now I am off to make an icon for 2K9 in preparation of buying it.
Oh yeah almost forgot, Go D-Backs!!! -
pffft dbacks, Go M's

Ahh both of you have it wrong, it's all about the Mets (until September....Sh#t!)
anyway I can't wait to get some online action going maybe we can start some sort of NBR league? It will have online wont it? -
The D-Backs fell apart last year too, after I was sure they would make the playoffs. I can't stand the Dodgers.
I saw on Wikipedia that the PC version will not have online (which sucks), but that is the only place I have seen that claim.
Here are the PC requirements I found on the 2K website:
Minimum PC Requirements:
CPU: Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz Single Core processor or equivalent (2.8 Ghz for Vista)
RAM: 512 MB or more (1 GB for Vista)
Disc Drive: 8x or faster DVD drive
Hard Drive: 9.5 GB or more free space
Video: DirectX 9.0c compatible (*see below)
Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
Input: Keyboard or dual-analog gamepad
* Video card with 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets is required: ATI x1300 or better | NVIDIA 6600 or better | DirectX 9.0c compatible card with Shader Model 3.0 support.
Recommended System Requirements:
CPU: 3 GHz Dual Core processor or equivalent
RAM: 2 GB
Disc Drive: 8x or faster DVD drive
Hard Drive: 9.5 GB or more free space
Video: Shader Model 3.0 support with 512 MB RAM (Nvidia® Geforce® 7900 GT or better)
Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Input: Dual-analog gamepad
That is a high processor requirement, a dual core at 3 Ghz. -
I think that processor requirement is wrong... Maybe it's a typo and they mean 3.0 Ghz single core or better... I don't see a baseball game using a 3.0 Ghz dual core processor... Lolx that's almost like GTA IV... :S And if that was the recommended, then the minimun wouldn't be a P4 i think

I can't find any info on online play other than what it mentioned on wiki, that and it says it installs securerom-- so what exactly is so bad about securerom bc I know i see a lot of people making a big deal out of it. I will say that without online play a lot of my enthusiasm is gone.
-
Securerom kinda sucks because it limits the amount of installs you can do, and a lot of game installers don't let you know its being installed so its basically malware. It has caused some people a lot of problems and is difficult to completely wipe off your PC. However, it hasn't caused me any problems so far and I won't really care until it does.
I just submitted an icon for MLB 2K9 on Deviantart -- check it out:

Oh man that's sweet, say is there a chance you could make one with David Wright? I would appreciate it....
-
Yeah sure, just find me an image with David Wright and I will make it. The image needs to be pretty big too.

wow man that is sweet thanks a lot
-
... Although he's my favorite player, the Braves are my favorite team!
. Anyways, I can't wait until I get my hands on this game..
-
Sweet David Right icon!!! LETS GO METS!!!
-
Thanks! Glad you like the icon. I am working on making all the team logos with the 2K9 icon, but they are taking a long time.
David Wright is an awesome player. BJ and Justin Upton are also from Norfolk. I hope Justin Upton doesn't get hurt this year, because I think this year will be his break out year -- I am hoping for 30+ HR's.
And hopefully a lot less strikeouts. -

yeah I can't wait for all the old "steroids era" players to fade out and the great young stars take over. Baseball will be fine with guys like Wright, Reyes, the Upton brothers, Ryan Braun, Hanley Ramirez...and many others
-
what are you guys talking about its about the white sox
-
-
Haha. If you can't tell I am only bringing up D-Backs players right now. I'll stop now...I promise. -
-
The demo of this has now been released
-
Will post screenies later! -
Well, game wont load for me, Vista x64....double click the icon, it starts to load, then drops straight back to desktop with no error message or anything...
-
motherpuncher22 Notebook Consultant
well i went and bought the game and the controls are horrible but thats probably bc i am used to the consoles, so I'm going to be using a controller for this one, other than that no complaints.....yet
-
I can't get any controls to work in the demo???
I remapped a bunch of them since I don't have a numpad on computer, but they won't work.
What gives? -
have same problem. most of the controls wont work with keyboard or game controller.
-
Bump.
Anyone else still having this problem?
