Yes I know its been out for a while..but I really think this game is EPIC! I am about 40% through it right now..graphics, gameplay and storyline is just so well thought out...EVERYTHING is ridiculous! A lot of people believe that the controls are an issue and that it is a console game..if you set the controls correctly then it should not be an problem..I actually think Eidos (not being a PC company or having PC friendly games) did an ok job on porting this...After you complete the game and run around and collect every riddle, I dont see much replay value though....I have to say though...using the synchronizer decoder thing where you have to tap left arrow right arrow left mouse button right mouse button continuously may be the WORST most FRUSTRATING thing I have ever encountered in a game...it literally is the stupidest, most annoying thing I have faced in all of my PC gaming years...like it makes me mad just thinking about it![]()
Oh well...
I canNOT wait for Batman Arkam Asylum 2 in Gothum City! No release as of current though![]()

You have to see it on eyefinity to really appreciate this game
I played it before bezel management was introduce so now I have to play it again with bezel management as it will look even better. -
I'm somewhat embarrassed to say I acatually got to 100% completion - including not just catching the Riddler, but also doing all of the fighting/gunman takeout challenges. It was a surprisingly fun game. And also surprisingly, it was probably the second game ever made where you actually feel like a superhero (the first being Spiderman 2, and this one certainly tops that as far as superhero-ness).
However, it was an incredibly buggy game, and very poorly optimized for a large number of setups. It would crash 50% of the time I died or paused to hit "quit" or "restart" (100% if I was in Scarecrow scene). And that's after I worked my butt off to get past a bizarre stuck door glitch (which had to be fixed with a reinstall). And although my GPU could probably handle most of the PhysX effects without a sweat, trying to play it with PhysX on max would cause crashes with every other step. Completely unplayable, and an embarrassment for Nvidia. I was DEFINITELY not the only Nvidia user for whom PhysX made the game unplayable.
You got hung up on the hacker thingy? I didn't find it very hard. Trebly so once you get the upgrade, often you only have to move one of the dials to get it open. -
I don't like when I have to play Batman from that little view, not sure how to call it. Movement for the last end boss was difficult, I thought. I haven't done all of the Riddler yet, I'm almost there I believe.
- I haven't done the challenges yet.
But I think the game might have been polished up. It ran fantastically well on highest settings on this G73 and it never crashed once while I played it. -
This game was incredible even on my 19-inch CRT and it was a visual treat! Game play was addicting too!
-
Same here..no issues...still looks gorgeous even though us G73 ATI guys dont use the PhysX
Histidine- Thats odd that you had soo many crashes and issues! But YES, The decoder hacker thingy...I HATE it...I do have it upgraded and I swear, even on my old FX 7805 (whose keyboard was amazing compared to the G73's) it took me a f'in hour to hack doors...I am doing it right and I am sure...sometimes I get it within 5 seconds and others it takes me 4 minutes...its so ANNOYING and to me it seems it is a bad port job or button selection for such a stupid task!
Wait just reread your post...what do you mean move dials? My only options are left, right, left click, right click?
About how far into the game was that "door glitch"? I hope I dont encounter it! -
I know I know..wrong forum..maybe Ziddy can answer...really noob question..Regarding G73-upon boot what do I press to enter BIOS? (F4/F9/Esc)

I'm actually suprised... Wasn't this a super NVDIA game and not supposed to run well on ATI machines?
-
YES!!! HEAVILY geared towards Nvidia and the use of the Nvidia PhysX...thats why ATI rules...bc the games not even optimized to look great on an ATI chip yet ATi still manages to make eye candy!..minus the use of PhysX
something smells...oh wait thats the steamy diarrhea that my 5870 and ATI just took on Nvidia -
I loved this game. I played through it non stop and beat it when it came out, and just a few months ago, played it and beat it again.
Now seeing this thread makes me want to play it for a 3rd time...lol. -
When you click or hit A or D, Batman's thumbs turn the dials on the hacker. You just have to get both of them within a certain range. Just keep turning one until the screen gets as bright as it will go, and then turn the other dial. It should get a hit within seconds. Never took me longer than 10 seconds per lock once I figured out what I was doing. I don't think it's a bad control port at all.
Pretty quick, before you even get outside. I got past the first one by replaying from an earlier save, but then the next door after that also glitched. I don't think it's a very common glitch, but I'm definitely not the only one who got it. -
I had quite a few glitches. Some spots didn't show up to where I could grapple, thus preventing me from continuing the story. And a big one where I would fall and die entering poison ivy's room. It was just black, nothing showing. Oh, and also the invisible plants/walls I would run into...

Even on my underclocked ATI MR 4650 I never got low fps even at max settings at 1600x900 (no AA) . No PhysX of course. -
Just finished the game...no glitches running on an ATI card (5870M) and no PhysX obviously yet still gorgeous eyecandy...game was one of the best I have ever played...just EPIC...the storyline does not get much better and the developers really did not cut any corners with this one...Boss battles and striking/fighting was just amazing...Anyone read up on a release date for the Sequel?
-
Apparently it's supposed to be August 3rd, 2010.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/batman-arkham-spike-tv/59829
Under the video itself, on the left hand side.
It also says the platforms it's going to be released on, and it doesn't say PC....
Edit: I found this http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/batman-arkham-asylum-2/, and apparently at the bottom left, where it says "Editions", there will be a PC version, but it's TBA. -
Ya that's a great trailer...I will be furious (as many others) if it did not come out for PC..I am confident it will though...no reason not to..I mean AA did so well why would they cut themselves short on profiting ya know
Anyway, CANT WAIT!!! -
Looks like the UT3 engine again. Which is fine by me since it ran and looked great on this machine.
But really Joker again? I think for a sequel it should be the Riddler or some other villain, and hopefully not in Arkham Asylum again. -

I think as a farewell to the original PC AA they should release a free final patch for the game containing the ability to play as the joker.
-
Ha Ya I loved how in the trailer joker was still all banged up and missing his teeth from the (EPIC) fight/ending in AA...: ) but we will see Bane again of course
Rumor has it it will be in Gotham City as they keep stating "Arkham has moved"
-
I actually LOVED the joker. The voice acting was AMAZING, so I am glad to see it back again in the second one.
And the first AA also had other villains like Bane, Poison Ivy, and Killer Croc.
Plus I hear Robin might be in the second one. -
buy a 20$ PC controller and you'll enjoy it even more.
-
Yup Yup. I actually play with my Xbox 360 controller for a lot of games on my PC, and it works amazing.
Some games are better played with a controller than a mouse and keyboard in my opinion. -
Oh I hope not, Robin was always my least favorite character in the western Hero comics. He's so annoying...
If they let Robin in the next game, I'll be ok with if they let me hang him upside down and practice throwing 3 boomerangs at this head repeatedly. Or practice my combos on his face.
Or even better, let me just throw him at the villains as a distraction, while they beat him up I sneak past. -
Lol, well I won't mind it so much, if they choose a good actor to do the voice, and don't make him so corny. If the second one is anything like the first one, we are in for a real treat.
-
i played it first with my xbox 360 controller, but now i prefer to play it with wsad and mouse which i like much better

I've never been able to find the xbox controler for windows in stores but I fo have a logitech controller around i may try it with. Personally though, it's gworing on me playing games with WASD and the track pad on my laptop. However i am looking for an external mouse.
On the note of voice acting, I hope Kevin Conroy and Mark Hammil make a return to the series. On the note of robin, it definetly needs to be done right. May keep him in the batcave with oracle, then have something happen with batman, forcing oracle to save him while robin winds up having to defend the batcave from the villains. That's just my take on it. -
Batman did a great job for PC controls. I applaud them for that, playing on my PC with keyboard and mouse was seamless. Devil May Cry 4 on the other hand... yeah... I quit that game.
-
I agree..It was ported very well. As long as you set your key bindings to your playing style (i.e my run and double tap evade was set to the rt ctrl button as I use arrow keys for movement and this worked perfectly!) I cant image playing the game if I had lets say the run/evade set to something that I had to reach or move my hand for. My only complaint comes with my G73 unfortunately...hate these dam^ tiny direction keys!!! It's a gaming laptop!
-
Lol! I hear you there! That and the tiny shift and backspace keys! As well as like the whole num pad!
-
you can just use a wired xbox 360 controller and download the driver on the MS website
