The game is almost upon us! This is my anticipated game of the fall. Unlike the BF3 nuts and the Skyrim fanatics, Batman is the game I've been looking forward to.

    NA October 18, 2011[2]
    AUS October 19, 2011[2]
    EU October 21, 2011[3]
    JP November 23, 2011[4]

Oh yeah, North American for October 22nd, Europe 25th.

    Some Updates:

Batman Arkham City's PhysX does not have any features exclusive to Nvidia. All PhysX features will also be available on CPU. Any marketing sham that has been provided is Nvidia marketing sham.

Batman Arkham City is a Windows Title, that is a given, it's going to be on Windows... But it will not be a GFWL title!

oh yeah - Rocksteadys Batman plots have completely annihilated the movie plots...especially if finished all the side quests (ie the scarab one).

I am on my third play through of Arkham Asylum and still enjoying every minute. I will be buying Arkham City for the PC without a doubt. There is no way in hell I will be impatient and buy it for that Xbox 360 sitting alone in a bag somewhere. By the sounds of it, Arkham City will have a lot more replayability and the fact that it has a more open world design to it is simply excellent. I think this one will be a huge hit and will be a game you will replay many times.

i thought cristopher nolan and his batman movies were a work of genius- until i played arkham asylum.
now i watch them again and they just seem ok, especially batman begins with the scarecrow- that looked so friggin lame compared to the game.

Agreed. Christopher Nolan still hasn't been able to get that same feeling of unstoppable awesome that the game did. I've told people the only time I've seen Batman as I think he is in my mind of a powerful superhero so far has been Batman AA. A popular question is, what superhero would you be. I'm almost tempted to say, my answer would be Batman in AA :D

Physx is only available for nvidia gpus. So yes, if AC is an nvidia title like the first one, you'll need an nvidia card which supports Physx hardware acceleration.
Like Alice Madness Returns as an example.

I don't really feel like paying full price if some of the features are locked for ATI users. I know there are some hacks to make it work on ATI cards, but that's probably not worth it.

In fact, even if it's on sale, I don't know that I'd be comfortable paying the same price as an Nvidia user knowing that the game is feature locked to Nvidia. It's kind of nuts that a game would use PhysX today when Havok is pretty much unilaterally better and supported on all systems.

It is kind of lame, but I wouldn't call them "features" so much as "Batman's cape isn't as swooshy without hardware PhysX." You still have PhysX, it's just software instead of run on the GPU.

Still can't get out of my head that Harley Quinn is actually a man. Perhaps a little Crying Game is in action.

The best rendition of Harley Quinn from any Batman story ever.

I was shocked to find the AA Joker to be even darker and more depraved than Heath Ledger's.

It's a seriously dark game, and apparently AC is going to be even darker....

Harley Quinn isn't a man. They had a male mocap actor for the animation. That doesn't really mean anything. They could have had a man build the animations manually instead of using a mocap actor. Would that have changed your opinion? Mocap is just one piece of the puzzle. Many men and women were likely responsible for the construction of Harley Quinn, who is a female character through and through.

Well it's running on the same unreal engine as AA, just a newer revised version. I don't think it's going to be that demanding, it should run fine with small tweaks.

Oh I'm not concerned about it, especially not for my system. It's just the principle of the thing. Just weeks before release, that should be out there, so people looking forward to it know whether they can even run it.

Hardly. Harley Quinn has always been portrayed as a sassy school girl type. And the blonde girl with two pig tails is CLASSIC school girl imagery. That's like someone saying OMG there is a clown with white face paint. They must be copying from the Joker.

Really, did you see my other link going through the history of Harley Quinn? She's pretty much always had that jester like outfit. At least my memories of her in comics were like that too.

    [IMG] [IMG]

In any case I like their rendition of her in the AA game. Very nice, can't complain.

She wasn't always like that. Pretty sure she became Joker's assistant when she was still a school girl. Anyway, I've always thought she had the attitude of a sassy school girl with too many ways and opportunities to hurt.

Still the image that Batman AC went with still stands. It's a classic image of a school girl with the two pony tails IMO. It's not copying off of Vampire Masquerade whichseems to me a catholic school girl outfit, how creative :D

She was the Joker's Psychologist while he was in Arkham Asylum, it's part of her back story in the animated series (Where she first appeared) and is also mentioned when you collect her trophy/figure in Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Her name is Harlequin, for goodness sake. Moving away from motley might be a good look for her, but it's definitely a step away from her roots.

Sorry, that wasn't meant to be literal - I was referring to the fact that her name was based on the word harlequin and thus the harlequin/motley motif is the appropriate one for her. Still, many long-lived pop culture icons eventually lose their roots, so maybe this is just one step in that direction for Harley Quinn...

It looks great on PS3, I originally got it for 360 but it kept crashing...probably due to my 360 being fairly old. I was going to wait for PC but I felt like I would be rushing the game because of Skyrim (which comes out 11-11-11).
