Funny, after so many bad Batman games, before Arkham, now they can't do wrong.

Already got burned on two previous GFWL games, including one of the previous games from this franchise. Was never able to get Arkham City installed properly, and Bioshock 2 can only be played in offline mode, even though I purchased both of these on Steam while logged in to my Steam account.
Hope this one does not use GFWL because there is not a chance in hell I would ever buy another GFWL game. -
It won't use games for windows live. Batman: Arkham Origins Drops GFWL on PC - IGN

i thoroughly enjoyed the first two batman games and i think they were the best depiction of batmans outside of comics. i wasnt planning on getting this third installment as i thought it would be much of the same but after watching those two videos looks like im pre ordering this.

This whole activation thing is stupid stupid stupid anyhow. Case in point I recently loaded up an older game I bought online a while back. It went to activate but the activations servers were no longer available, so I couldn't play the game at all. It was never patched out and no way to get it to play otherwise. I was so disappointed. -

If the date doesn't ship then they have until July 2014. If Microsoft replaces it with something else, they may just do redirects.
Microsoft pulled the announcement and isn't commenting, so all we have is conjecture. -
time to wake this thread up.
so who's looking forward to this game.
this time last year there was much hipe with the release of arkham city but its all gone quiet about arkham origins.
are people getting fed up with another franchise release. -

Now, about that "no hype" thing. I guess it's an NBR thing, people here tend to discuss performance and hardware more, than actual games. Even in the old B:AC thread you would see more people talking about the FPS than about the game.
Other thing is, a lot of people waited for a true sequel to AA and AC, made by Rocksteady. I myself was a bit disappointed that WB went with Origins story and a "current gen" game. Plus, there won't be no Catwoman in Origins... Bummer...
However there are rumors about Rocksteady currently in process of developing a next Batman game for the upcoming generation of consoles. I don't know how true is this, but I sure hope it is. -

Someone assure me that dx11 will be properly integrated into the game with smooth fps.
Last year version was an aberration let's hope this one is better. -
Im really curious about requirements..I have a gtx 760m(probably 765M after overclock)...so i hope it wont be more demanding than bioshock 3 infinite which is playable on ultra for me...I always check notebookcheck benchmarks first
-
here ya go
Minimum Requirements:
OS: 32-bit: Vista, Windows 7 and 8
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz / AMD Athlon X2, 2.8 GHz
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS / AMD Radeon HD 3850
DirectX: Version 10
Recommended:
OS: 64-bit: Vista, Windows 7 and 8
Processor: Intel Core i5-750, 2.67 GHz / AMD Phenom II X4 965, 3.4 GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDEA GeForce GTX 560 / AMD Radeon HD 6950
DirectX: Version 11 -
How can they even put 2GB RAM for minimum requirements? The OS barely runs with 2GB RAM...
-
DX11 features slowed my game down more than Physx. And the Physx stuff looked a lot nicer than the barely noticeable tesselation and HBAO.
That being said, I always though that the Batman games looked incredible on PC, especially with the cloth and smoke physics so am hoping this continues the trend. -
Requirements seem similar like bioshock infinite..that would be cool if its true...hope they use full advantages of quad core to gain at least 15-20fps over a dual core
-
disc box set already out in the uk at tesco's.
ive already ordered on steam so can we have a pre load please. -
Steam pre download available now.

The story is that in the beginning, when Batman was still a rookie, he had to use more crap for protection. Later on he lost some of the stuff for better movement/flexibility and such.2.0 likes this. -
So far the game is great, it has a different feel to it and I like how Batman has a temper, is angrier, impatient and takes more risks. He seems faster some how and I like the new suit. In my opinion (so far), they deserve to hold the torch with this one but I never had any doubts about how this one would turn out.
If you liked Arkham City, this is a must buy.MrDJ, killkenny1 and ronferri like this. -
Runs very well on my 770M with FXAA High, PhysX normal and DOF on normal, everything else maxed at 1080p. Mostly staying in the 40-60 area. There was a particular area so far where my fps was almost halved, and there are drops when loading new sections (on HDD), but really can't complain. Roaming around the city is nice and smooth.
-
is it just me or does it feel like de ja vu and were playing last years game this year.
only played a couple of hours so far but to me it hardly feels or looks any different. roughly the same city map, roughly the same plot- go here and then get a side mission so go there instead. -
I thought Arkham city was a giant let down, marketed as sandbox style. While you couldn't go to a majority of the areas unless you had a mission there, felt buttonhooked. Not o mention, the map was small, felt cramped and poorly plotted.
I'll wait for the reviews on this one. -
wonder how fun it is
-
if you played arkham city you will know how fun it is.
dont get me wrong its a good game so far but its not a brill game.
last year side missions were a ringing telephone and you had to get there in a certain time. this year its a police radio report that you hear and then either go do the mission or dont. at least with the ringing phone you had a time limit but this time its like, hmm shall i bother, nahhh. -
Sounds like they're going assassin's creed 3, rehashed and repetitive.
-
This is what I expected, more of the same with a few minor additions but I love it. I think with it being made by a new team, they would have taken too much of a risk if they changed it too drastically but it's still early days for me in the game yet.
Given the high standards, expectations and love by fans of the last one in the series, I am not surprised they went in with the 'if it aint broke don't fix it' and were cautious.
If it was Rocksteady who made this one then I would expect much more differences. I did hear rumours that they were working on one though.MrDJ likes this. -
Yeah just played it now for about 20 minutes.
Looks like a direct replica of arkham city. The fire for blasting the floor through to the combo hits feel the same as last year title.
Although I feel the fight scenes have more impact not sure. Graphically it's running beautifully with everything max and AA @ msaa x 2 I get average 30 fps with minimum down to 22 fps and max up to 50 fps on the alienware (see specs below). It certainly looks great and runs better but somehow it feels like last years title with some new characters added.
Will write up something more deeper as I work my way through the levels. Perhaps this is what arkham city should have been originally and this is now it part 2?MrDJ likes this. -
its running smoothly for me at 60fps with everything turned high and physx turned off (vsync off). im using a 7970m with a 920xm @3.3ghz. as far as the game goes, it feels the same as arkham city, but with batwing and bat cave!
i kinda got stuck when batman wont let go of the batclaw and insisted that i keep pulling on it. im already as close as i could get, but he wont let go. -
think its space to let go.
out of all the places i need to go i chose the one with the biggest glitch which has no fix at present.
Burnley/Lacey Communications Tower Glitch
Once you zipline through the ventilation shaft and .hack the communications tower, you are supposed to Batclaw your way back up through the ventilation shaft and climb out. Unfortunately, Batman only hangs there by his fingertips and is unable to climb out.
There is no current fix for this. It will need to be patched by the developers. What you can do in the meantime is Fast Travel out of there, but it will not unlock any of the Enigma stuff or the fast travel for Burnley. There have also been a few reports from some people who managed to get past it "while crouching during hanging up with the Batclaw" but this has been unconfirmed so far. -
-
It not that hard just do what i did and i finish the mission and it is sad waiting on the devolopers to patch/fix this problem
Here what i did

I really like this video of the game. It focuses on the PC version, and the reviewer brings up some great points about iterative sequels. He talks about how Gamespot and other outlets gave Origins fairly low scores, yet they did not do the same for games such as FIFA 14 and CoD: MW3, which are just as iterative, if not moreso. It's a great watch, albeit quite long at a bit more than 50 minutes.

in my opinion, if you enjoyed arkham city, you would enjoy origins. i didnt enjoy city as much as i enjoy other open world games, so i didnt like origins. its a good game. just not for me.
-
Ok,
Been playing more of this and honestly it's a great title and all but seriously there is nothing new to this aside from bat cave and Alfred over arkham city. The dx11 runs fluid like now which is great but I have become bored after the penguin mission. I dunno maybe I am tool anal but this is too much like arkham city and I feel I am paying for the same game all over again.
Anyway enough of my ranting. -
Sounds more and more like Assasins Creed: Batman edition.
-
Apparently WB Montreal were founded in 2010 and for them to take on (arguably) the best super hero game ever made, and the best Batman game ever made was a huge responsibility. It would have been very easy to mess up and I bet they were afraid to make too many changes, even some of the more minor ones. I can understand why they played it so safe.
Maybe once they feel confident and more established, they could show more creativity in their next release. Imagine being the head of such a project, I doubt I would have the bottle to change much either lol. -
deathstroke was quite a difficult one to beat but finally managed it. havnt had a chance to play for last couple of days and will be on B4 tonight.
