I am about to buy a T60. I am not an avid gamer but I play WoW and sometimes others. With WoW I would like to have maybe 30+ fps...

I have the option to configure with a x1300 or a x1400 from ATI. Battery life is very important to me and I was wondering what kind of battery life and performance I could expect from WoW if I invested into one.

    Thanks for the help!

X1300 not as good(compared to X1400) in terms graphics but should do better in battery life.
X1400 will do a bit better at graphics but not as well in battery life

    X1300 will play WoW easily

if battery life is important go with the X1300 which you mentioned but

if you are going to run vista i would recommend the X1400 the X1300 should be able to run vista but the X1400 will do it better.

if vista = yes; go X1400
if vista = no; go X1300
(vista is more graphics entensive than some video games)

THis is not true at all. Both cards could run Vista Premium beatifully. So it is really up to you.

I doubt the difference in battery life between the X1300 and the X1400 will be significant; since you want to play games, you might as well go with the X1400. If you are getting one of the higher resolution displays with the T60, then you will appreciate the extra power the X1400 provides; it should be able to drive WoW at the higher resolutions without too much difficulty.

Its gunna be a linux machine probably, I do not see Vista in my future. I have played with it but seemed like a toy more than anything else.

Has anybody experienced the x1400 vs the 1300?

Battery life (atleast between the Dell variants) is not great. maybe an extra 20 minutes? This is at maximum battery mode btw. I can get my X1400 equipped Inspiron up to just shy of 6 hours. Gaming it lasts around 2.5 hours. Good for playing CoH on the way home from uni. Choose the X1400, you'll appreciate the extra power.

I agree, the X1400 should have the power to make WoW look great over just looking good.

The best plan is to get the most powerful graphics card you can afford and upgrade the other stuff later. I recommend the X1400 and if you think that the battery life is too low, underclock it when you are not playing games. I just read someone go their X1600 down to 135/135 which would not use much power at all! So I'd go for the X1400 because the extra horsepower will be better in the future.
