I am curious, especially since some of these are just portable desktops with a battery (use desktop parts).
Any owners not embarrassed to tell us how long they can last? Not that I'm implying you're minutemen or something.

I've read the reviews of some of the extreme DTR gaming notebooks on this site, and battery life usually hovers around the 1-1 1/2 hour range.
-
Wow that's not that bad... a lot more than I expected.
-
my buddy/roomate has an XPS M1710 with the 7950GTX in it, and he gets 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
-
I get about 1 hour and 40 min on my D900K.... doing basic stuff or idling.
Gaming... minus 45 min. -
Hi,
mine is not really a gaming monster, but also not too bad I think.
Doing normal office work, Internet and stuff, I get about 2-2,5 hours. Never tried gaming on battery, but I know the graphics ard doesn't use full power on battery. -
I've already taken the battery out and put it in storage. Who needs it?
On my Sager NP5790, doing just basic office activities and surfing the web, mine got 1 hour and 43 minutes of battery life. (which seems to be about the average for this kind of notebook: 1 1/2 to 2 hours). I needed a powerful gaming desktop that was easy to transport, and a DTR fits the bill quite nicely. -
Most DTR notebooks get about an hour to 2 hours, and some of the better ones, will get more. I can get around two hours with my notebook, with the brightness set at medium level, and with the wireless on.

I get about 1 hour and 45 minutes, I have to turn my brightness down to a minimum I have a double lamp screen.

Notepads.
You can adjust the height by tearing off (or sticking back on) different numbers of notes. Just adjust it to the right height (this takes a little trial and error), place the notebook on it so that it sits inside the empty battery compartment, and it props up that back-left corner perfectly.
I can finally enjoy my notebook in all its battery-free goodness. -
I'd do that too, if it weren't for my battery holding my primary drive in my system. You take out the battery, and the HD is exposed.
Ah well. I guess there's a reason the thing is being held on by 3 serious screws. -
Nice one! I think I will use a notepad too when I get mine.

Ive been using my computer with out a battery for some time now. I dont want to ruin the battery from charging it too much.
-
funny you guys said that, even Vista warns you about this fact of overcharging.
look at this:
-
Hey Gophn, where do you find the "battery maintenance" options in Vista?
-
Technically you should ask Chaz, he just sent me this snap (from his Lenovo X61 probably).
I'll load up my Vista on VMware and try and find it too.
EDIT: This snapshot came from a Lenovo Utility.... pretty nice, they should include it in all notebook PCs. -
-
Yeah I have got the 6+9 option with my 1520, and I don't use either battery. I should stick them in my fridge... I keep them at 40% and just hide them in my desk lol.

40 min's at full brightness and full gaming on my D901C. About an hour if i take the brightness down and just work or surf.
-
MY old Alienware runs about 1 hour 10 minutes on battery. Because it cuts down to about half speed, though, you really need just about 10 minutes to start it up, 10 to shut it down...so you only have about 50 minutes of usable time. On AC it still runs like a beast, though.
-
I get 2 hours on 3/7 brightness on the laptop in my sig.
-
around 1 1/2 idling around, around 1 hours gaming, one vid card is disabled on battery though
-
i dunno since i didn;t use the battery for 1 year now (totally new!!) but probably 2hours?? and more if i undervolt or underclock gpu and cpu
-
About 2 hours and 30 minutes with laptop in my sig.

Wow! My HP DV2000T gets those times, and mine is supposed to be a thin and light notebook! Only between 1 Hour 30 minutes-2 Hours.
