I thought it would be cool to have a topic where we can talk about current and upcoming battle royale type games.

While I mostly find myself in single player games, BRs are the only multiplayer type games that hit a completely different spot and can be very satisfying.

Starting off the list with the ones I've played/heard about:

    - PUBG: I think this was the first actual real BR for me. Played a lot a few years ago but nowadays I'm enjoying mostly watching some youtubers play it. I don't have that much time to sink in the game and with only a few hundred hours, I'm just not good enough to keep playing with any consistent success. Also, currently the game is not in a good place. They have way too many maps and spread the playerbase so much that wait times are just too long for any casual sessions.

    - Ring of Elysium: this was my favorite for a very long time. I think I have double the play time of PUBG in RoE. The mechanics are a bit more forgiving and feels more "fun" for me, but sadly the game is pretty much dead. Lobbies do work but you get 80-90% bots.

    - Warzone: had quite a lot of fun with this one but not my favorite. Too fast, too much action and I just can't agree with having crossplay with console users who are able to use aim assist. Whenever I mention this I get p00ped on because "it's easier with mouse and keyboard". This is not true, I've seen clips and replays of console players. They hold a trigger and the aim just locks on.

    - Cuisine Royale (current name is "CRSED"). This is a weird one. I believe it's free on steam (not sure, I already have it in my library). Played it for some time about a year or so back and it seemed like fun. Haven't tried it lately but I think I will. Graphics and gun mechanics were ok. There are a bunch of strange abilities one can use/level up (like teleport to the zone, huge jumps, see through walls, summon zombies, etc).

    - Super People. This is a new one. It's supposed to be coming soon, currently is only in Asia. I've only seen some videos of short beta sessions but it seems like it has potential. I will be looking out for this one when it arrives. There is a steam page for it and it will be free to play.

I'd like to hear from others who like BRs too. What else would go on the list? Is there anything cool upcoming?

PS: I purposely left out fortnite and apex. I hate fortnite with a passion, it's a cartoon game where the "skills" are in kids who can build walls quicker. It has nothing to do with actual shooting.

Stopped playing PUBG because of the cheaters, typically became 1-3 cheaters in 50% of the matches. Seeing as how video games are a means to kill time I lost interest and havent launched the game in forever, still no pull to make me want to either.

Dont think I tried Ring yet, might look into it.

I liked Warzone a lot, needs more action imho but there were issues on AMD hardware that made it unplayable. The game would lose the hook to the GPU every 3-4 seconds where my power draw would fall off and the game would hang for a moment. This also happened on my buddies PC with the same hardware. I played different modes to get around this. Havent played this much either lately.

Never heard of the other titles you refer to.

The Cycle: Frontier. Well, not technically pure battle royale but it sort of fits. It's something in between tarkov but without everything that makes that bad and a BR game. It's PvPvE with looting and extracting to keep the goodies. Seems to be getting some traction with beta testing sessions these days. Might be interesting to follow.

Will be free to play, not released yet but beta access can be requested on steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/868270/The_Cycle_Frontier/

Super People - "closed" beta is live again. This time it has all sorts of game modes, not just TPP. I usually play FPP solos.

It's free to play on steam, just click request access and it will be immediately granted.

It's surprisingly fun and all the perks and powers don't detract from the enjoyment as I expected. Upgrading stuff in the game with scavenged materials is pretty seamless.
Controls are very much similar to PUBG but movement is much less clunky.

After watching a couple videos and playing through the tutorial, everything is straightforward. Land, loot, kill, move to zone.

By the way, new Warzone map is out too but to be honest I'm much less impressed by that. Tried if for a few runs but it's just... meh. Super People, no matter how cheesy it sounds, really is fun.
