OK, I have two absolutely identical in every way laptops (sager np8660)--even including the software. The only difference between the two is the second slower one has SKYPE loaded and a few additional games.

    Drivers are identical

Recently, after installing Battle For Middle Earth 2 on each, we noticed that one takes significantly longer than the other to load a level.

The one will load a level in less than 20 seconds, the other will load in excess of 45 seconds. Both computers have been defragged. Both have reported clean chkdsks. Event View reports nothing out of the ordinary.

Typical benchmarks for the two machines are virtually identical), but this game is puzzling me.

    Thoughts?
