Try using PBSetup to manually update Punkbuster.

It's a software to filter out keys made by keygens.

It may also be a firewall or port forwarding issue, although some people running Vista (myself included) experience the same problem on the Call of Duty series, after spending months trying everything recommended, i.e. reinstalling the game several times, reinstalling, and updating punkbuster, disabling anti-virus, and firewall, connecting directly to their modem (i.e. eliminating any possible router/port forwarding issues), ensuring that they're not listed in PBBans for whatever reason, and they have given up. Some have fixed the problem by reinstalling their O/S. Despite having genuine copies of COD2 & COD4, I can't play either on my Desktop with Vista Ultimate, but my Laptop with Home premium plays them fine, although I know it's not just down to the version of vista. Both machines are also running the same Anti-virus, with the same firewall, connected through the same router. After sending countless tickets to Punkbuster, All they ever suggest is that it's a firewall problem, I think that's their automated response !

If you Google it, you'll find it's quite commonplace.

Good luck, and I hope you do find a simple solution to your particular problem. I wasn't prepared to reinstall my OS just to play COD4 on my Desktop, as I have it for the 360 and my Laptop, but I can understand the frustration of someone who's bought a legitimate game, and only have one PC, and cannot play any Online games (without, of course playing with flying Skeletons, and the invincible  )

totalbf2142.com a site dedicated to BF2 & BF2142, in there forums are many threads and stickies with more information on this than we could supply.

Punkbuster has many issues, sometimes its just a matter of updating it or deleting your cache, other times its more advanced.
