Just a heads up for those of you who don't know about it, but there is a BF2 1.50 Beta patch out now clocking in at 1.3 GB  With the usual glitch patching and balance tweaking it's got a new map called "Operation Blue Pearl". While reading the original description of it, I wasn't too thrilled about the new map, as it's completely urban and has a dense fog in it, it's actually quite a fun, fast paced little map with the USMC attacking a Chinese city landing craft style. I just got done playing a couple rounds in the new map, which in the middle of the night where I am means very few people in the BF2 servers (I'd think alot of Europeans would be awake playing, but it would be early hours there still). It is nice to see DICE showing the love where they should to the gamers that love them the most (PC gamers!) with a new map, and I'm hoping for at least one more by the time BF3 comes out be it by the end of the this year or 2010. As far as the balancing goes, the patch is supposed to even out the balance between the F-35B and J-10 fighters in particular as well as fix some of the missile glitching from SAMs and missiles fire at helicopters. I'm sure there are other things they are fixing as well, but those are the main points. Hopefully no more lame misses that should've been exact hits! I'm just glad to see BF2 goin on as strong as it has for all this time as it is my favorite online game :D

    Battlefield 1943 = sequel to Battlefield 1942

    Bad Company 2 = Battlefield 3

I think this is a precursor to BF2 releasing on steam!

Well I wouldn't call BF1943 a sequel at all, it's too different and from what I heard, it's like a rebuild in some ways. Battlefield Bad Company is it's own series.

What I really want to see is:

    (1) ability to switch kits at a supply crate
    (2) shoulder mounted anti-air weapon, to help level the playing field against those dang raping choppers and airplanes.
    (3) a cue system for joining a server, so you don't have to keep checking if there's an opening.
    (4) at least one other mode. CTF would be perfect.

Those are good ideas, BF2142 does have an anti-aircraft missile for the anti vehicle class. Also you have to remember that typically everyone runs for their lives (unless they are in a vehicle with a mounted machine gun or a tank) when an attack chopper shows up instead of staying fighting it out. Two or three people with heavy machine guns could take down a chopper if they stick it out and take the risk. I'm very experienced in this tactic, and it works very well :D

There is the 50 cal sniper rifle, if you are skilled you can take down a chopper in one shot

That is near impossible, as I have tried it and the last 200 hours of my 400+ hours have been mainly with sniper class. I have done it twice, with choppers in the air, and both occasions it was a hovering blackhawk.

Either it has to be the shot to damage the helicopter to make it start burning (and therefore starts to take damage during those last 3 bars) or it has to be a headshot on the pilot since the .50 cal rifle can penetrate glass. The L96 can as well if I remember right, but you got to play forever to actually acquire it or steal it from a dead body.

It doesn't take that long if you have the Deluxe Edition or Special Forces expansion pack. You get two unlocks for every rank up. :p

The first things I unlocked were the M95 and L96 sniper rifles. I'm reasonably certain the L96 does not penetrate glass, but it does excellent damage against personnel. The M95 doesn't do as much raw damage, but it can penetrate cockpit glass.

I haven't played BF2 in ages...perhaps I'll reinstall it and check out this new map.

I used to have the deluxe version with all the expansions, but I had a number of issues getting BF2 to run properly after I installed the expansions, so basically I'm doing it the basic BF2 way which means taking forever and ever and ever to unlock new classes. Plus don't you HAVE TO have the Special Forces pack to get the 3rd tier weapons?

Or you can all play Project Reality and get a sense of accomplishment getting objectives done with your teammates instead of just looking to rank up.

PR is one of the most comprehensive and well built mods I've ever played. It's difficult but you feel very accomplished when you and your squad do a great job. Not to mention the maps are just huge! The Afghanistan insurgent map FTW.

BF:BC2 is NOT BF3, BF3 will be a PC exclusive if it ever comes out. I guarantee you that BC2 will not knock BF2 off the PC as the top BF title.

My guess is that DICE is working on BF3 but that it will not be released till sometime in 2010, maybe June 2010 to coincide with the five year anniversary of BF2.

Anyways, I'm going to wait for the final 1.5 patch, typically if I'm looking for a teamwork oriented server Texas Team Players or =SoE= 24/7 Iron Gator are good choices.

dice have already said that bad company 2 is not bf3. check out this kinda old video.

    http://www.gamereactor.eu/grtv/?id=4332

if you want the 3rd tier weapons, you NEED special forces. you just need to play for a second though. just get into a ranked SF map and wait a second or two and then when you login in again, you'll have your choice of weapons.

Texas Team Players is a really good clan and server system. Only problem is they use reserve slots and you have to join their clan to make sure you can't get kicked off when the server is full :/ But at least I get excellent ping, since I live in Texas :D

I'm glad to hear that a vBF2 player such as yourself enjoys a little bit of both worlds. Maybe I'll catch you in-game sometime; my BF2/PR tag is [R-DEV]Cheeseman.

They need a CTC aka Capture The Commander mode.
