Have anyone tried to play Desert Combat mod or even the original Battlefield 1942 game on the 1st gen Asus Zenbook UX31 (wIN 7 Home Premium, 64bit)? I got an original copy of the bf1942 Anthology series (road to rome, secret weapons expansions. Did not install punkbuster as I only want to play singleplayer) and it installed very quickly and well (updated to bf1942 1.61), but when I tried to open the game it wouldn't start, no logo or anything, etc. I looked at Windows Task Manager, and it shows BF1942.exe appearing and disappearing immediately. Please help, I really want to play this classic game, and have possibly exhausted all ideas on what is going wrong!

PS- After days of googling around, is it a problem with Windows 7? Battlefield 1942 - PCGamingWiki PCGW - Bugs, fixes and workarounds
I did these steps and it still won't work.
"1.Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select Windows 98
    2.Check "Run as Administrator"
    3.Click OK"

Or is it a problem with the screen resolution or refresh rate?

I followed How to Play Battlefield 1942 in true Widescreen ie 1080p ( Battlefield 1942 - Widescreen Gaming Wiki) but I can't even start the game to create a profile to have the "Profiles\Custom" folder.
I also read ithat bf1942 don't allow refresh rates lower than 60Hz. My Zenbook says 60 Hz, but maybe its a faulty screen and real refresh rate is below bf1942 requirements? I tried using RefreshLock but have no idea how to get it to work properly (or maybe I did, but it didn't work).

Or is it a problem with the intel HD 3000 graphics card??

Or is it my Avast antivirus/Windows firewall??

Is there anyone else who plays Desert Combat/Battlefield 1942 on a Asus Zenbook? Out of ideas on playing this wonderful game on my Zenbook..... :(
