Yea, yea, yea, I'm not up-to-date on games seeing as how I have no money, but a $25 Best Buy gift card was just sent my way and I'd like a PC game. I'll either get BF:1942 and an $8 guitar pedal or just Counter Strike: Source as I'm buying online.

The reviews for both games look good, but I don't know which to choose. Any help/opinions would be appreciated, thanks :)

PS: I only own the Complete Collection of BF:2 and Far Cry 2, but my parent's desktop isn't anything special in terms of GPU (hence these two games).

EDIT: Apparently CS:S doesn't have a single player, per say. Something about bots and making your own map. Anyway, is either game still good in the online multiplayer department? Being older I don't know how many people still play online.

My personal choose would be CSS, if you like playing FPS games online you will love it. The game is still very active, you will find many servers and diferent mods to play.
Im still playing it since 2007 and i dont get tired :)

CSS for sure, thousands of players still, tons of servers running custom maps and gamemodes and my personal favorite, zombie mods!

I'd go with BF 1942. Waaaaaaaay more stuff to do, and I'm sure there's still a large multiplayer community (not to mention the modding community).

I have played css for the last 5 years. Still active servers up, recently Ive been playing a lot of gun games, lots of fun, but the learning curve can be quite steep.

Definitely CS:S. BF1942 community died a while back ago since BF2 and now BFBC2. Also, if you can't run BF2 on your parent's computer, I think it is time to upgrade the GPU. Even the crappiest laptops with some form of a dedicated GPU can run BF2 (i.e. 8400M GS).

Get Css. Just know that the learning curve is quite steep and you may rage every now and then (I know I did). Just be patient and you will soon get the hang of things.
