I just ordered a Toshiba laptop with a 1.66 core 2 duo, 1GB ram and a 256MB Geforce 7600 GO. I really just want to have a couple recent RTS games to play.

I do play Battlefield 2142, and Battlefield 2, would they run OK on that setup? They should because they were running fine on my Radeon 9800 Pro.

Does anyone have experience with those games and that card?

    Thanks

    They'd run fine.
I have very similar specs, and I play BF2142 great on my laptop.
    BF2 would run even better.

Upgrade to 2 GB, you will really 'feel' the difference. Less stuttering, smoother gameplay. I once played with 1 GB now I have 1.5 and it is a huge difference.

I have a 1.66 Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of RAM and an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600.
The X1600 and the Go 7600 are pretty much the same ( look here).
I can tell you Battlefield 2142 runs fine on my computer.

my room mate runs 2142 on a go7400 w/ 1Gb or ram with no problems. a go 7600 will eat it up. I would also suggest like the other guys that you upgrade to 2Gb of ram though. once and in a while my room mate will run out of ram with BF2 and it will start to lag. 2142 is a little easier on the ram so no problems.

That 2nd Gig stick is my first order of business, after I get the thing anyway.

    Thanks for the input.

I find the opposite to be true, BF2142 uses more ram on my machine. A lot of it has to do with graphics settings. 2 GBs is going to make you happier playing 2142, especially if you have a bloated Windows startup.
