Yes....the NVS 140m is equivalent to a Geforce 8400M-GT....it will run Battlefield 2 at medium settings with fast FPS.

It should run fine, even with high details. Just as a note, you can get a Vostro 1400 laptop similarly equipped for $300 less. I just built one like it in 2 minutes. Only difference is it has the 8400m GS instead of GT. Just a comment if you haven't ordered yet and want to consider it. I understand if you don't.

No, have you looked at the battlefield 2 minimum requirements?

Why do you think so? Battlefield 2 isn't exactly a recently released game.

BF2 is mainly memory hungry. A friend of mine plays with a 6600 GT 128MB and an Athlon XP 2400+ at 1024x768 with most setting maxed. He could barely play it when he had 1GB of RAM, but after adding the additional 1GB it ran smooth as silk.

Granted this is in XP. I can't vouch for Vista.

ok I was mistaken the Geforce 8400M-GT with the desktop version of the 8800 GT.

I'm not following hardware news anymore so I have no idea how good or bad the 8400 GT is, but I've used to play BF2 on ATI x300 on my desktop long time ago and it was runny at mid to low quality even though I had 3ghz processor and 4 gig ram.

anyways those are some really good news i'm reading over here. I'm glad i'll be able to run that game on my laptop. I'm really not into games any more. every once in a while i play HL (original) and now I'm yearning to BF2.

I have plenty of ram on that laptop, 3 gig. And I might install XP. But so far from what I found online, BF 2 should run fine on vista after the patch.

I ran BF2 at 800x600 on max settings on my T60 with the x1300 and 1gb of memory at the time. Granted, my T60 and the T61 you are looking at are two completely different machines but my lesser speeced T60 had no problem with it.

Assuming the NVS 140m is an exact equivalent to a 8400m GT.. you will definately be able to run on high settings with at least 2x AA.

    I play BF2 everyday on a 8400m GS
