Battlefield 2 or 2142

My friend who has played battlefield 1942 and battlefield 2, says that he rather to play 2 then 2142

 

depends on the kind of gameplay you perfer, but they are basicly the same game because they use the same engine.

 

I love BF2 but I don't have 2142 to compare it to so I can't really say.

GET IT!!!, to me, the graphics look way better, AND you get to play in the Titan Mode (where u have to destroy a enemy warship)

 

Titan mode is a point farm, conquest becomes much more fun over time. Graphics, strictly speaking, are the same and the gameplay is also somewhat the same, the only difference is the added Titan mode. I played both games in CAL and I can say that BF2 for me is a lot more fun, also playing in pubs but 2142 is also a lot of fun.

 

In bf 1942 and bf 2 the environments are all very vivid, different and colorful.

In bf 2142 its all the same, futuristic dull look

Game play wise bf 2 rocks again, it is so much fun, also bf 2 has more vehicles both on land and off land, heck bf 2142 doesn't even have JETS, just some stupid helicopter stuff.

The weapon system, unlocking new weapons, ranks is much more sophisticated and rewarding in bf 2142 than bf 2

All in all I recommend bf 2 as I have played both.

However you can make your decision your self, you can have a look at gameplay videos of both and see which one suits you or there are multilayer demos available for both so you can check them out (though they only feature one map, you will get a taste of both games)

Yeah in BF2142 the ranking system is so much better than BF2 and I like all the accessories you can unlock.

 

I had both, but promptly sold 2142 - It's just not half as much fun, or as enjoyable, but each to their own. Just as a ex-BF2 fanatic, I was very disappointed with 2142.

 

I recently got back into BF2142 and it is a good game especially if you have the team play going on, however if your not into futuristic war, stay away from BF2142.

But overall, BF2, was more fun than BF2142.

 

The problem I have with BF 2142 is that if I'm playing a sci-fi title that eschews realism and real world locations (which always add to the immersion of playing a game) then I want rail guns, laser cannons and other huge sci-fi weapons (a la quake).

2142 doesn't have the real world settings or silly sci-fi weaponry, and I would rate Battlefield 2 as the better game, however it is still very good and there are a number of tweaks and improvements in gameplay over BF 2, like the ability to disable claymores.

 

Future doesn't mean laser, BF2142 is only 100 years in the future. It was the fear of many people before 2142 was released that there would be laser guns and sci-fi weapons and thank god the weapons are somewhat close to what they are now, with laser weapons one can't say it's realistic, at least with bullet weapons there is a reference in the real world.

 

I own both games, and i prefer bf2. BF2142 is too complicated, Im not a huge fan of "futuristic weapons" Besides Titan mode is not that great. If you honestly cannot decide try saving up for both.

 

i'm a huge fan of sci-fi shooters, but battlefield 2142 didn't satisfy me, it felt like a huge mod of battlefield 2. battlefield 2 is bigger, much more fun and have better graphics if you ask me, i believe it's the best in the battlefield universe. i have both, but after spending 3 weeks playing B2142, i got bored and went back to battlefield 2, where the fun never ends. so, if you've never played a battlefield game before, then i'd say pick battlefield 2, it's so much better..

 

I like BF2 more. I like modern warfare more than sci-fi. I would try out the Demos for both and see what you like.

2142 will probably be supported for longer, so in the long-term it is a better buy. As for gameplay, it's exactly the same. It's less specialised in 2142 as they melded a whole bunch of classes together, personally, I slightly prefer battlefield 2 for classes and gameplay, but 2142 has titan mode, which is excellent, if laggy on the titan. They're the same, so it's down to if you prefer modern-day or futuristic...

 

Alternatively, go for 1942, which is by far the best BF game

Right now I usually play Suez 24/7 Titan servers.

 

Im thinking of getting battlefield 2. Do alot of people still play Battlefield 2 or do most people play battlefield 2142

lol, maybe your not looking in the right places. I bought BF2 last year for 12 pounds at virgin megastore, thats about 17 euros. Also now there is a deluxe BF2, including special forces and all the booster packs for 29 euros.

 

Just try out the demos if anything. But personally i like BF2 a lot more than 2142

 

I just got battlefield 2142 and it runs horrible on my pc. I have an Nvidia Geforce Go 7600, 1.73Ghz processor, 1gb RAM. Even on low settings its slow. DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION OR IS MY PC NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE GAME???

ps. Counter-strike source runs perfect on my pc.

 

I played BF2 for about a year, then got 2142.

I was a BF2 addict. I loved the game, esp sniper/special forces.

But I made the swich to 2142 since it was so big and I liked the idea of being one of the first people to be on a game.

Atfirst the swich was strange with the new unlock system, the diffrent skill tree's and things. Once you set your teeth into it tho you can see its a far suppirior game and much more balanced.

I LOVE BF2142.

As for performance it runs golden with everything to the highest possible in game setting on a AMD Opteron 148 @ 2.8ghz and a Geforce 7800GTX @ stock with 2gb of system ram on my 37" monitor 1920x1080 resolution.

Widescreen support... everyones uses them these days... except we get shafted with a constricted view or stretched screen. Don't support either game!

 

I said the same way back when, but BF2142 is my fav multiplayer game hands down, and the cut view is not so bad I still get top 3 every game.

 

I have both BF2 and BF2142. In my opinion BF2 is a lot better; from the jets to the variety of armies you can choose from, it’s all fun. Plus there are more Mods you can choose to download for Battlefield 2; some very good ones being:

Gah you just reminded me of one of the reasons I hate BF2... the jet/tank whores...

I was pretty good with a chopper but the jet I sucked with, and the people that live in them to get top points would even sit there and camp it and TK you just to grab it.

Dont get me wrong I like BF2 alot, I am a former US Marine so I love the modern combat feel, but 2142 just has somthing about it that got me more hooked.

Be it giant 2 legged robots stomping by,or the zoom on my sniper rifle. I also think its much more balanced.
