Alright, so I hooked up my notebook to a 32inch LCD this weekend. It was looking great, I have to say. But then I got to messing with the resolution settings, because I can't seem to leave well enough alone.

Anyways, I selected a resolution (within the game) that apparently is not supported by my HDTV. The screen went blue (no signal or signal not supported) and I had to exit the game. Now, when I start the game it won't even run....I'm assuming bcause the resolution is not supported. Is there a way to adjust the in-game resolution setting without having to actually go into the game??

I'm not home right now to check, but I thought there was a seperate icon installed in the BF2 Start Menu folder to do this? If not, check the Readme file in the BF2 directory on your hard drive.

Change the shortcut information on the launch icon.

    "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

That would start it at 1920x1200. Just change the numbers to a supported resolution and you'll be fine.

correct, just put +szx (resolution) +sxy (resolution) like stated above..

*NOTE* the resolution will change, but the image will be stretched to fit the screen, and the FOV will NOT change. (DICE thinks it would be cheating if they can have a bigger FOV, just because they have a bigger monitor)

Yeah, I didn't expect the FOV to change...by the way, pb...not to get off topic, but you gave me some primo advice on building a desktop....I finally got it put together...it's a beast!! AMD X2 4400, 2 7900GT's in SLI, 2 150gig 7200 rpm HD's in RAID 0 array....I'm even using a water-cooling system I got from Danger Den!! THat one's hooked up to a 45in LCD....so I'm forced to use the lappy when the Mrs. wants to watch Food Network or some **** like that =)

Well, I only have 3DMark05 right now, and I'm pulling down around 15800. The vid cards I have are by XFX and are factory overclocked to a core speed of 550.

I'm all about BF2 right now...also, since I'm fairly new to PC gaming, I had never known the joy that is Half Life 2 (though, I'm not a real big CS:S fan, cause I'm no good at it)......the best game ever made, IMHO. I also have F.E.A.R. which is very good, visually, but the stor is lacking and doesn't pull you in like HL2

i felt the same way about F.E.A.R. (never finished it..) the story is...ehhh pretty bland. the combat though is very fun. i love the bullet time, ala Max Payne (anyone remember that game?)

I hear ya...there were also surprisingly few scare moments in the game...well, far less than I expected...I get more creeped out by those little "headsuckers" in HL2 than I do by the little girl in the red dress....

Max Payne was a classic, I think F.E.A.R.'s bullet time was more enjoyable...this probably has something to do with the quality of the visuals...Xbox compared to SLI = NOT EVEN CLOSE.

i liked Max Payne's bullet time better, since it enabled you to jump/dive/kill everything in site...good times.
