I really want to try to get some time in on this beta, just sucks FC6 just came out, Metroid Dread comes out today, and I have a ton of work to do on my dock and a shed I'm trying to finish up before it gets cold. Too much to do, too little time!

 

haha that sucks I have 24/7 time off every day.....never a dull moment..I really enjoy my time off...retired since I was 26..I say this game is better than COD but will it maintain high player counts...I sure hope so cause this is going to be a blast when it comes out

 

Hope they can get rid of the bugs until launch, or the more stupid ones at least. Oh and they need to rework the flying of the jets..its no fun flying with the mouse...

 

This beta is 2 months old. They probably have some things fixed already. I have faith it will be ready when its released. I doubt they want to end up like the cyberpunk devs.

My god, the game is so fun, i like the Portal mode, played a lot of the the BF 1942 maps and the Bad Company 2 ones.

 

For everyone wondering why you have such crappy FPS's in 2042 here are some tips that will help for sure!

First activate directx 12:


Secondly the latest drivers from nvidia 496.49 are bad for this game so if you want an improvement in terms of fps:


This is for nVidia only! Directx12 activation should work for AMD gpu's too

I can't really tell any difference. It may even be a little worse. I get 50's to 70's fps most of the time no matter what settings I use. I need to do that DX12 fix and see what happens.

I haven't played yet to see if it helped since the patch was at 3am. I've had a lot of fun playing even with the bugs. It officially opens tomorrow for everyone.

The PC version of Battlefield 2042 is technically not in good condition. Errors and benchmark performance bothers us in the test.

Reminds me of glitching under the aircraft hangar next to the ammo box, using a jeep (a bit hard to do without dying), in Battlefield 1942...

The way you guys talk about it I thought it was a smoothish launch, this game hopefully has better days ahead of it.

 

It has some bugs but I've had a lot of fun playing it. Besides the bugs, I think a lot of people are pissed because its not exactly like BF games before it. I never played much BF before so I don't care.

I have little hope optimization for this game will ever get properly addressed.

No idea how the game squeezed through QA testing and released the way it did, but I'm having fun. Still quite disappointed at the end of it, though.

 

Seems like it's a common practice in AAA games these days...

 

God, I really wish it wasn't. I don't tend to buy games a whole lot these days due to worsening health and lowering ability, but when this kind of thing happens and they ship something that was completely half-assed in delivery and optimization (y'know, something essential to play any game), it's pathetic.

 

The new patch they released today has a bug where you can't turn left or right. You have to delete bf 2042 files in the doc folder. I had fun after I fixed that.

That's what they get for not having a campaign. Having no campaign makes the game worthless.

No wonder there's so little interest. If people were interested in the game, there'd be no need for a play for free weekend this early after launch.

In 4 hours gametime I got revived once.

Everyother corpse is just spazzing out glitching on terrain.

Weapons have no real feeling. Going from AR to LMG to SMG you barely notice the difference.

Everyone looks the same, there's barely any teamplay. Even harder with no voice chat. You can't even talk to the enemy team... Are they worried someone might get offended?

Vehicles are king. Seriously, just make every infantry a bot and give everyone tanks. Game will be more fun and the map sizes will make sense.

What makes no sense is spawning on foot 450m away from the closest flag. Clearing a sector and then having to run 600m to the next flags. This is just stupid, idiotic game design.

I thank steam for the free weekend. Was thinking of buying the game with the 40% off discount but it's clearly not worth it.

And performance is horrid. The game feels naked, not lived in, almost like a mobile game with its simple textures and assets. But it just spits out my 2080 max-q... On my secondary ultrawide monitor I'm struggling to get 50fps, in mostly low settings without DLSS.

After BF2 and all it's expansions, Bad Company 2, BC2 Vietnam, BF3 Premium, BF4 Premium, Hardline Premium, Battlefield 1, Battlefield V, this is where I draw the line. It's just not fun.
Going back to BF1 or BF4 is a world of difference. Much more engaging games.

 

IIRC new COD also has that free weekend thingy going.

Does 5h campaign add so much value to the game?
Old BF games never had campaigns (1942, Vietnam, 2, 2142), and most of them did just fine. There are also plenty of other online only games which thrive within their audience (RS Vietnam, HLL, Insurgency Sandstorm).
From what I hear the game is bad and buggy, hence why there is so little interest in it.

In my opinion, yes. A game without a campaign isn't worth playing. I've never been into multiplayer. I know battlefield is all about the multiplayer, but I've always gotten the games for the campaigns. The campaigns are really fun.

In any case, there should still be some sort of singleplayer mode so players can train for multiplayer. Given how the multiplayer on this game seems quite lackluster from the reviews, having a campaign might have saved it.

 

I dont think I ever cared about Battlefields Campaign, nor have I ever completed one either.

I've had a lot of fun playing, but yes, it STILL has bugs, some of which were supposedly fixed.

 

Yeah i had fun at the beginning too but now i havent played in 3 weeks , all the critic the game receives is justified. Its the worst bf sadly, bugs are still there and the ton of missing content for such a game is unforgivable. The Specialists are a joke and the maps are all made for vehicles, i gave up on playing infantry a long time ago. The only fun i had was with the Blackbird and i got bored. I am back in Battlefield 5 and maybe ill the try the game when more content is there, but no hopes. The content planed for March is a joke (1 map...) and i think the game will be abandoned really quick.
