The only thing that really KILLS framerates is the lighting, at least thats how it is for me on my 7200, which is a low-end card. The 7400 is a much better card, so you should be able to play it at High settings.

The real game should be more solid, so you can probably get around 40FPS on average. Who knows maybe higher if they really optimized it.

What they should release is dual core support. I heard BF2 has this feature. That would give you about 60FPS.

OMG, the bottleneck is the GPU!

Dual-Core Optimizations do not do much these days yet!!!

Are you sure about that^, I heard elsewhere they can cause a 30-50% increase in FPS, but I might be wrong.

    PLEASE

you should STOP predicting what games would look like compared to your 7200

you are ALWAYS GROSSLY over estimating

    enough about your magic laptop

as for me, my ex OCed x1400 in a dell inspiron 6400 (getting 2339 3dmark05) with 2gb 533mhz ram, and core 2 duo at 2ghz, i got 45-50 fps on all med settings and view distance at 100% at 1024x768. (no aa or af)

depending on what model your 7400 is (there are some models that only have 64mb dedicated vram such as the dell xps 1210) your stock 3dmark05 settings would be 2000-2100. your fps on all med would be around 40+ and at 100% view distance.

at all high, i'd say it would dip to 30 or lower during explosions, water, etc... especially if you have AA or AF turned on.

as usapatriot said, once the game becomes gpu limited, it doesn't matter if you have the fastest cpu in the world. cpu only does the AI and physics, which i guess theres no AI in bf2142... so only physics for that.

I am not over estimating. I said that if I had turned on lighting, it would go to 10 FPS. My GPU, is a low end card, and it doesn't have enough pixel piplines to do any advanced stuff but the game, It cant do HDR, or AA. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Why would I want to pull these numbers out of thin air. For what reason? God it is so annoying, how you always say I over estimate. And did you even read my pst, I said that If i had lighting on to medium, it would KILL my framerate, I don't have Dynamic Lighting or the Enhanced Lighting effect on. Maybe that is your problem. Turn that off, and you'll easily be getting 60+ FPS.

Okay, sorry about that. It is just irritating how people just accuse me of making things up, and accuse me of lying as well, when in reality I have no reason to lie about my laptops performance, then they resort to acting like little children, saying things like "Enough with your Magic Laptop" I realize that I wasn't acting mature either though bringing out words which weren't neccesary.

30% to 50% performance increase in games due to dual core???

    No way, maybe 5-15%.

Oh, I was basing my assumption off of Quake 4 and the like. But I agree, it did sound a little far fetched.

Which game? In Quake 4, which has a dual-core patch, there's a big difference. Up to an 87% increase according to the ReadMe. HyperThreaded Pentium 4's see around a 25% increase.
Of course, if you are GPU limited then there will be less of a difference.

So, let's say they release a dual core patch for CS:S, with the computer I have, my averag FPS is 40. So how much would it go to with a dualcore Patch. It would be amazing it it goes to 80.

WoWoWoW..... i cant wait to get this game IT COMES TOMORROW IN THE MAIL. I really hope that it runs just as well as you said that it does. And when you said that you had to manual format, did you also have to do that for the real game, or was it just the demo?

If steam took the time, then yes, but i HIGHLY doubt that they would. For some of us, there is a bug with the game, that does not allow you to play the game for more than 30 minutes with out freezing, they have not fixed that, and that bugs been there sense may 06, so just cross your fingers on that one. I could care less though because i get 120 FPS on i think 1280Xwhatever.

This game runs better for me on medium settings @ 1078 x 768 res with 50 bots running around than playing online with people haha.
