Yeah that browser thing really annoys me too! One would think that they could make it like BF2 or BC2 where you can just choose map and all IN game : / Hope they "Fix" it and make it like it normally is, because i have to use firefox to be able to launch it...

    I launch BF3 with Chrome.
    No problems at all.

Reason we use Battlelog is to stresstest the site before launch.

Awesome, so in this game you can snipe people without ever looking at them. That seems lame to the extreme. Everyone smashing Q and snipers looking for triangles, seems almost as pathetic as cheaters in CS wall banging seeing through walls.

As one of the youtube commenters said, who needs wall hacks when they give it to you in the game?

Hardcore is a mix bag. True it gets rid of the annoying 3D Spotting. But it also made it a sniper fest. Almost everyone plays sniper since it's so easy to hide. The gillie suits I find in that drab gray/brown colors blend too well into the rest of the game which is mostly gray and brown. 12x optic zoom. So I still prefer playing normal as it keeps the sniping down as they are killed easier.

It's just a game, I'm not looking for the most realism. The best solution I think is just look for servers that limits the # of snipers on each side.

Will BF3 have a hardcore mode? I hope it does not. All it does is segregate the community.

Hey sorry for my slow reply, I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to say, but i hope this is ok :/.

Yeah it played fine on my laptop, I was using the Dell/Nvidia 268.30 drivers, lots of people were reporting better performance on the 280 Beta drivers but i don't like using beta drivers and anything over 268 screws up Bad Company 2 for me.

I never recorded my fps or anything like that, but i never had any noticeable lag. I played on my native resolution for the first 3 or 4 days then lowered it to the next one down, 1280x720??? something like that, I cant remember. It was more through fear of my laptop over heating than anything else (currently in Tokyo where its funking hot) There was only 4 graphics choice settings auto-high-med-low. There was no advance tab (well i could not find it haha) like in bad company 2 to tweak things, i assume because it was just Alpha. I left it on Auto.

If i was advising anyone id definitely say get a quad core, everyone in the Alpha forums were convinced the game is being built with quads in mind and most people reported it using all cores, where as some games don't.
Ive only just moved up to the world of multiple cores so I'm no expert but in terms of BF3 quads seem to be the way to go.

As i said it played fine but it was an Alpha, had a few ctd and a lot of the in game skins were obviously not final. All i can hope is that they fine tune it so a broader spectrum of people can play it smoothly especially us with the mid range laptops.

And yes you had to play through a browser which sucked, you had to use 'origin' which is similar to steam, then it launched your browser-in my case Firefox 5.1, which then launched the game.

Thanks osakaboyru. Maybe download Fraps, run at low and medium and high separately and just make a mental note of the fps or go into fraps and select under benchmark to record only min/avg/max fps. Don't forget to hit F11 for it to monitor for fps, I think the FPS counter disappears, so maybe do a quick run making a mental note just to check for dips and such, then ten minutes recording the fps.

I let it ran on Auto settings on my lenovo y560, ran beautifully. Then on low, screaming framerate. Ran on medium next, felt the same as auto. Ran on high, beautiful game, go around 30 frames.

I would check the fps for you but i believe its over now, the battle log site and alpha no longer open for me! I'm pretty sure the they will take the data from the alpha, hopefully improve the game and then its beta time. So you guys with the moh key will be playing :]
