Battlefield 3 finally looks like a PC game now, with revamped chat window, and you can see poeples ping now.![]()
Nice to identify people who connect to high latency servers for an advantage.
-
-
Where did you see that? How do we confirm? I should since I pre-ordered.
Also, is there a way to turn on or off what shows up in your battle feed? I'm ok with showing upgrades and stuff I got but don't want to litter it with posts I've made in the battlelog forums.
edit: nevermind, I see it there.
-
So the chat window doesn't take up half the screen now?
-
Google translate is so lulzy.
And it's not a russian game... What do you mean with that sentence?
-
Its in the upper left corner now.
But the USAS-12 is still pretty dominating on hardcore when with frag rounds.
I usually stay the **** away from that. xD -
3.8 gb now that's a patch
-
I thought you guys knew Back to Karkand "preload" was in the patch.
DICE posted that patch size was going to be huge because they rushed so they didn't have time to separate the content.
Though they lied about the size (2GB to 4GB)
But they did promise for the next dlc, they make sure it will separate from the game patches.
So everyone got the preload even those who doesn't own the dlc. -
It was 4.2GB in my case. Weird.
-
Hmmm I wonder why that is
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Good thing I'm not home today, otherwise I'd die waiting for the 4GB download to finish. 1.5Mbps DSL SUCKS so much. But I wonder why everyone is getting different downloda sizes. Everyone should be given free access to the Back to Karkand expansion due to all the bugs.
-
Maybe different locality?
Well, EA letting everyone download the Back to Karkand anyways even you don't own it. Is that enough? -
Hey can you PM me that solution too so I could let my brother know. He's got the Russian version also.
-
What did they nerf on the frag rounds?
I been using it for awhile, it seem to be more effective now since you don't kill yourself with it anymore. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
That would screw over the people who paid for it... they would need to give those people something else.
I don't see DICE apologizing for bugs that everyone experienced by giving only certain members of the community a freebie.
At the same time, I don't think they need to do anything. The launch was rocky, but the game is shaping up. -
They did pay for it. It just happened some people paid for it earlier than others. It's not just certain members of the community. Most people paid the full $60 price, but only a few fortunate will get the expansion free? That seems unfair to me. I disagree with you completely, quite the opposite going on here.
Some get to get something for free while others have to pay more? So a few special few get to pay only $60 but the rest have to pay $75 to play the same maps? How nice of DICE. -
The people that got Back to Karkand for $60 either preordered, in which case all copies were limited edition, or somehow got the Limited Edition for $60 after release. It's not a "special few". Anyone could have gotten it...
-
Limited Edition games are a "reward" for players who go and throw the money away either before the game is launched or at launch.
I know the local shops around me are all out of the Limited Editions of BF3, so sadly the rest of them got to buy map packs.
At least EA could add something like the Season Pass for Forza Motorsport 4.
Pay all the DLC in advance with a discount and get them at release. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
Somehow, you misinterpreted what I wrote, or I'm not understanding you at all.
20% of the playerbase to date preordered the game and the benefit of preordering was free access to the first expansion. Preorder sale prices varied, from $40-60 (not including gray market) depending on when and where you bought the game. Post-launch prices also varied depending on when and where you bought the game. The price generally went up right after launch, to about $60, but then there were sales for as low as $30 within a few weeks after launch IIRC.
The price of the game has been variable. That doesn't change the fact that some people paid for B2K while others did not. If DICE gives away B2K for free AS RESTITUTION for a buggy launch- that does not amount to restitution for all players, because many (about 20%) have already bought B2K. Moreover, those who have bought B2K are also those who were most likely to experience the buggy launch. That's my point.
Of course, I also believe that DICE doesn't owe people restitution for the launch. -
If Dice really should release some form of free map pack then it will be something different that Back to Karkand.
Its that simple.
The rage they would get when all the gamers combine in a horrific "Fuuuuuu!" would be too much. -

Same with me. -

IRNV is almost useless now with this patch. It was one of the useful tool to get back at spawn campers.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
It's not that hard, just use the kill cam (if you play normal). -
Now the irnv is like it should be if you use it where its dark it works like before maybe not so exstreme orange glow from people but you see them
-
Funny, in dark maps, you can't see at all but in purely bright outside maps, it is tolerable.
-
SOFLAM IS USEFUL!!! ;O
They bumped up the range slightly so not its actually possible to lock on to stuff.
Too bad most people dont make use of my locks. -
I just played a server. Lock ons don't bother me any more. If it's just the steady tone, I just keep on moving. Once I get the beeps, then I know someone is actually firing at me then I go on the hunt. First thing I do is take down the SOFLAM. The red laser light is so bright it's more powerful than the flashlights!
Speaking of flashlights, they said it was toned down, but it's still pretty horrific. Just the radius is reduced. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
They had already toned it down pretty significantly about a month ago.. how much more toned down is it now?
i'm glad the IRNV was nerfed, I was using it all the time, but I really wanted to be using different scopes. -
Okay im making a party, msg me on Battlelog and we are a go!.

BF3 - Spec Ops camo bug - YouTube
Does anyone like the new spec camo colors? -
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
Which one is more effective? PDW-R or F2000? I would say mostly in close quarter combat.
-
any pdw works fine in close quarter due to their rof.
If you want an all rounder for assault, use the aek, the next best. -
Offering up my "practice server" now that it's unranked and starting with 1 player. Now you can die and not affect your stats. All weapons are unlocked too. Feel free to play around. Starts with 1 player with 30 minute idle timeout.
PM me for password.
Thanks. -
I want to see more NBR people flying the jets so I decided to write a short jet tutorial now because I'm bored and don't have uni today.
To start things off, this is for vanilla BF3 servers with 3rd person view activated. HC players sucks to be you ^^
Different loadouts to start off with and my opinion on them:
Upgrades:
- Belt Speed = Useless. The main cannon is good as it is (and they even buffed it).
- Beam Scanning = Not useless, but it got (slightly) nerfed and there are way better options.
- Maintenance = Useless.
- Proximity Scan = lolwhat??
- Stealth = Roll with this until you get air radar.
- Air Radar = Got nerfed, still the best upgrade IMO since it's functions outweighs Stealth.
Gadgets:
- ECM Jammer = Not useless, however Flares/Extinguishers are better.
- Extinguisher = Pretty bad now because of the main cannon buff vs jets and the lower threshold for being disabled in a jet.
- Flares = Way to go.
(Just note that there is a massive debate between flares vs extinguisher but I don't want to bring it up here. What I can say is that I get more kills with when running flares compared to when I was running extinguisher, and the top pilots in Europe are using Flares).
Weapons:
- Heat Seekers = Bad. Not only do you alert other jets of your presence, they are countered with flares and dodging.
- Radar Guided Missile = Got buffed, however you're in a very vulnerable position when using it, so I'd not recommend it.
- Rocket Pods = They have insane range, good accuracy.
To sum it up, Air Radar + Flares + Rocket Pods is the way to go.
FLYING:
So what's most important here is to find a setup you're comfortable with. Doesn't matter if it's Mouse + Keyboard or just Keyboard or Gamepad, it's important you feel comfortable with it or you'll spend hours and hours trying to get used to something you don't like.
Personally, I use Keyboard only and only use the mouse when engaging ground targets and choppers. If you like to use Mouse + KB, then a lot of pilots are binding the pitch up button to the spacebar so they don't have to drag and reposition the mouse around when turning.
So before you start turning, make it a habit to whatever direction you're turning into, you want to hold down the corresponding rudder button (So if I roll the plane and want to bank right, I hold down the D key during the entire turn and vice versa for other direction). THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT!!!!
I'm not going to go into super detail mode but Ideal turn rate is between 270-310 (km/h?). You can see the speed in the upper left part of the cockpit view. I think from normal flight, it takes about 2 seconds of holding down the S (brake) key to slow down your jet for ideal "turning speed". Then what I do is i continuously tap S (while holding down A or D in the direction I'm turning while looking at air radar (in third person view) until I see the jet on my screen.
What you want to do is (for practice) to make turns and keep the speed between 270-310. Then when you develop muscle memory and timing you want to do this third person view (which is where you'll spend most of the time flying). Remember that if you make a banked turn in an "angle", say you're slightly diving towards the ground while doing your turn, you'll gain speed so you need to brake more aggressive to compensate for this. Same thing goes when turning/banking slightly "upwards", you'll naturally reduce some speed and don't need to break as much (I see a lot of people here braking too much, which makes it very easy to shoot them down).
In a 1v1 dog fight, basically if both players are equally skilled, it'll come down to who has the best "speed control" when doing the turns. Too many mistakes trying to maintain correct speed and the other guy will be behind your tail.
Once you get comfortable in the air, you'll want to engage ground targets. 1 full "clip" of rocket pods + full main cannon duration will kill a tank. I don't care what people say, make it a habit not to slow down while attacking tanks (it's ok if you're far away but NOT as you approach closely). You also don't want to make super long strafing runs because it's so easy for other jets / choppers to anticipate your path.
TL;DR
Practice makes perfect. Join empty unranked training servers, find a setup you like, and practice making turns while keeping turn speed consistent. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I will be in HT's practice server to mess around soon I think. Play around with jets/choppers.
Need to farm out the rest of my co-op unlocks and from there start playing ranked mutli. -
I'm just awful with jets, even with all the advice there is. Sure I can fly around and not crash, and can survive for a while, but killing something is just not happening. Just as well, because I'm really good in choppers so I'll stick to them
-
I haven't bothered with jets since the first few times...being limited to guns sucks.
-
They need to tone that F2000 down a bit.
I know those of you who use it (and it seems a lot of people do) will tell me to stop whining, but for those of you don't use it, don't you feel they made it a bit overpowered? Especially for a short range gun?
This F2000 kills me just about instantly every time. I just hear a "badada" and I'm done. I see a guy at medium to long range, I fire off 2 bursts from a SCAR, they land, he sees me, fires off one burst of F2000, I'm dead. I feel if it wasn't overpowered, so many people wouldn't be using it. I'd say 60% of people in the games I've been playing use that gun. -
Funny thing is .... f2000 got nerfed since yesterday.
Reason why I ended up using the AEK, which have a better grouping for full auto than f2000.
However, if you use a rof adjuster, you can pretty much make almost all the guns shoot like a laser. -
Completely agree, in fact I posted on it about a week ago.
-
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Where do you get an ROF adjuster? -
Ahhh, apologies. Didn't realize this as I haven't been on in 2 days.
Glad they did that then. I was beginning to curse wild obscenities at the F2000 every time I was killed by it. -
Guess its like a program that limits how you shoot???...
I only use my skills so idk what it is.
Just did a long range sniper shot clearing out a spawn beacon + motion tracker so my squad could take a cap point.
The epicness.
But since my team was *censored* we lost and i ended up at the top of the scorelist as a recon.
Nothing like playing with the NBRs.
-
What is an ROF Adjuster?
-
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Lol I agree! Sweet shot bud.
I assumed it was a Rate Of Fire adjuster, but never heard of one before. Sounds like cheatin to me. -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
ROF Adjuster sounds like a hack to me.
-
You guys do know that you can adjust your ROF? >.>
Semi, Burst and Full auto...
I think it's the V key. -
Actually, I call it a macro. I don't know what others call it.
I'm not talking about the fire control in the game though they are effective.
There are 2 types of them, one is a software solution and the other is the hardware programmable.
The software version sometimes trip some games anticheat.
But the hardware one is the one you can program such a way that you can transfer to another computer and still keep your settings without installing the profiler again.
Typical feature found on gaming keyboard/mouse that are worth over 50.
Example of a rate fire control in pseudo kinda similar to alias in cs but without affecting movement.
Toggle B2-> switch rate from sniper to auto mode
Hold LMB -> if B2 is True {Fire; break 10ms; Hold LMB } otherwise Fire;
You can do other things ... this is one just one of many examples. -
Oh, macros! I thought they meant the ingame ROF switcher /facepalm
Mouse macros aren't either bannable or detectable, but it can be fixed with a patch. -
Like Phistachio says, macros should be bannable or detectable. It just offers keypresses like you would do, well in a much more rapid fashion.
So far I have to say with the patch that hit detection is better. But that's only after a few rounds, will have to play more to validate that. But on several occasions already I have traded kills with someone, as in we both shoot each other dead. I have never had that happen. Previously it was all or nothing from either end. This is a much more fair tradeoff than what we had previously. -
I killed a sniper with a headshot right after i died.
So yeah they fixed something.
