    Hello,

Just got my new clevo 170SM with GTX780m, 4700 Haswell, 16 GB RAM, SSD, the whole deal So far so good. Except that FRAPS is indicating a steady 30 FPS on single player campaign with full HD settings, mostly ultra settings, 16 x AF. I ran the GeForce Experience program so that it optimizies the game. My understanding according to what I've read on this message board is that I should be able to run the game at a smooth 60 FPS. Is there are reason it's locking onto 30 FPS? Am I missing something? Thanks for your help.

    Pete

Hi try checking your FRAPS settings. Make sure that it isn't locking your Fps at 30 frames. :)

Also, I'd be curious if V-SYNC is enabled.... try with it disabled and see what you get, should be up and down and way more than 30.

Disable power saving mode and change it to balanced/performance. Also if you tried to play with the laptop unplugged, plug it in.

In my experience, GeForce Experience "optimized" settings are usually less than optimal for me because Nvidia designed the target to be 40 FPS and for FPS games I need at least 60 FPS. At the end of the day I actually prefer tuning video settings myself so I don't use it. Nevertheless, your GTX 780M should have no problem getting 60 FPS at those settings so I'd check if Vsync is on.

So I changed the power management options to "performance" and now BF3 is blazingly fast at ultra settings, v-sync off, getting a consistent 64 FPS. Beautiful. Thanks for the help!! :)
