From Battlefield 3 system requirements - Battlefield 3
If true, I'm happy. My 6970M equipped M17x R3 beats the recommended requirements on several levels, and meets the 6850 requirement.

Core 2 duo 2.0ghz? I doubt it will not lag like a hell when you'll be playing online with 64 players.

Though I won't be playing this game, I should expect to play it at 720p on High settings.
Mr. Mysterious -
Making me consider an upgrade already geez, the 5870m will play it just fine I'm sure... bc2 under heavy fire+smoke+explosions already puts pressure on it though so it's just a matter of not being able to run everything maxed.
Just waiting for steam to offer the preorder now -

Anyways, until something official comes out...this is pretty pointless. -
YES!
This is like Dirt 3, Deus Ex : HR, HomefrontWhich means my laptop will handle medium-high at DX10 ( or 11, not sure about the tessellation and other DX11 effects pressure on performance vs 10 ) at 768p
And med-low at 1080p( Except textures and detail = maxed
)

I'm not a FPS fan in general.

Sounds about right and pretty close to what everyone has been speculating. Desktop 2500k+HD6950 is what I'm gonna build.

These specs seem about right...except the C2D part. I'll bet it will be just like BC2, where you had to have a quadcore to make the game playable.
Everything looks right. -
I bet my 5870m G73 will play this med - high, I could see maybe having to turn down shadows to get it to run a bit better .
-
-
Think my 5870M and i7 820QM will handle it...
-
It is a very spectacular looking game, and I'd even go as far as to say this should be the new standard quo for video games if you were going the route of realism. Rage seems to be a bit cartoony IMO, looks good and the tech is there but the overall realism I'd hand it to BF3. The Sprawling detailed desert as the tank continued to ride for mile, smoke being driven up looked less like a polygon plain and more like volumetric particles. The destruction is what I originally invisioned for BC2 but of course we got that pre rendered mess were each wall and building looks the same destroyed.

Maybe time to sell my desktop gtx 460 and get something better!
-
-
But yeah that first month I want to play the game maxed out. -
Wow, those system requirements highlight how old my 3870x2 really is... but I don't want to replace it.

Its been proved to be fake.
Fake BF3 PC Specs circulating | BATTLEFIELDO -
Even so, I cant see the real specs being that far off. A desktop quadcore of this gen or last and a mid-high end range desktop card.
No doubt DICE, when they release the specs there is no doubt they mention i7 CPU specs per marketing, but the GPU level probably will be on target with the 460 and ATI equivalent. -

I doubt my 69(7)0 will have any issues with this game, considering it can max Crysis 2.
As long as my laptop can run it on low at native res I'm happy for those times when I'm on the go. -

Hmm, I don't know...the 5730m seems like a bit of a stretch.

Do you guys think I will be ok with a 920xm and dual mobility 5870's? Buying a 920XM in a couple of weeks.

Yeah you'll be fine. Don't worry about it for another couple of years, lol...
Mr. Mysterious -
I need to find out the specs on this ASAP as this game will determine if I gun for a beast lappy or a desktop. Are the graphics we have seen so far even possible on a single mobile card? Or will need sli or crossfire?
-

You want to be sure? Get the desktop.

Shadowfate Wala pa rin ako maisip e.
A single 580 was what they used when they showed the DEMO.
Better get a Desktop to be sure
Also
The specs listed was denied by EA and DICE saying that they havent released actual spec requirements yet -

I disagree with the statement "there has yet to be a system built that will be able to handle BF3". That's a load of crock in my opinion, if you have a reasonably fast quad-core CPU and recent, high-end GPU (5890,580) you will be able to max it at 1920 x 1200.
-
+1 usapatriot.
I think as DX11 only brings soft shadows and TERRAIN tessellation, everyone will certainly choose DX10 over DX11, since in action, you don't have time to enjoy the soft shadows and the increased plygon count in buildings and terrain. -
The demo was NOT running on max according to Patrick Bach.

The minimum GPU will be the 8800 GT, no doubt. Anything less than the GT 555M and 6770M is in serious trouble.
-
well the 8800 is closer to ps3 spec and like the guy said, if you have RSX equivalent you'll be able to run this on minimum atleast. This is supposed to be based in DX11 I thought, I really hope so, they need a poster boy bad for why gamers should even care about DX11 and buy into the marketing.
-
Right now i am interested in the Frostbite 2 and the Crytek 3 engines.(On PC)
I mean imagine what sort of games developers could make with these 2...
Both maxed out is close to what the next generation of consoles will look like, more or less. Hopefully more lol -

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
The thing about "you need a system on par with console specifications" is a more deep thing, not only gpu related.
Remember that beside the rsx power (being derived from 7800 gtx/7900 gt) the ps3 uses the cell and his seven micro threads to handle different graphics effects/eye candy that the gpu alone cant afford.
This isnt a new thing, most high rated ps3 games uses the spus to render things like ssao, antialiasing, texture compression/hdr and such (thats why having a game like gt5 on pc is not an applicable thing).
La Noire imho, beside the framerate, shows what a console can achieve.1080p output, great texture resolution, ssao, dynamic range lightning, self cast shadows and so on.Plus the beatiful facial animations.
Bottom line i think that the dev statements are wrong and misleading. If a single gtx580 wasnt running the game at max what they expect from an average pc owner ?
To go out and buy a tri-sli/tri fire system for it? Like the witcher 2 ubersampling which turns to be a crap of unuseful effect?
Optimizations where? Damn its 2011 and they still manage to screw up us how they want. -
