    I have a M17x with QX9300 oced to 2.8ghz, 280m sli and 4gb 1333 mhz ram.
    When I play BC2 in high settings with 1920 X 1200, I get avg 50-60 fps. But sometimes in middle, the fps drops to 2-3 and again goes back to 50. It happens a lot of time. I tried reducing graphics setting high to medium and 1440X900 and now still it goes down to 2-3 fps. Any help how to get this straight??
    Thanks

    Do the usual things first - update your graphics card driver, monitor your temp, etc...

    The drivers are uptodate and temp are normal. Just 60 max while gaming in other games and this one. Others gamers are running perfect with no glitches but it happens only in BC2.

    Try run the game at 1280x800 at low graphics settings, also turn on VSync, turn off HBAO
    Set AA at 1x, AF at 1x
    Also, lower the audio quality to - "HIFI" or "SMALL SPEAKERS"

    Go to "C:\Users\UserName\Documents\BFBC2"
    Open "settings.ini" with Notepad
    Change the following lines to:

    Bloom=false
    HSAO=false
    DxVersion=9
    FOV=75

    Save and close.

    It doesn't hurt to update your PB client also, just download it here:
    http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
    Run it, add BC2 (and any other games that run on PB) and update it

    Now run the game and see if you still have frame rate dip problem. If not, then we can work our way up and figure out exactly which setting is causing your system to freeze/frame dip.

    P.S. You are using driver 258.86 off nvidia.com right? not some modded driver?

    Recommend going down to DirectX 9.
    You lose some eye candy, but you can play at higher resolution. :)
    (Also lower shadows.)

    Then it could be related to the latest patch or something.
    Never had any problems with my desktop with a 2,6 GHz Phenom II x3 and ATI Radeon HD 5770.
