After I installed the game and tried it out, the gameplay was quite smooth at medium setting at 1024*768 resolution. I tried out the singleplayer first. Everything was fine until I reached the area where there are a lot of particles present (i.e. smoke, fragments from explosion, etc.) then my screen will start to mess up. The game wasn't freeze and still playable, though those graphic glitches really obstruct my vision; it even blocked my crosshair, and I couldn't see a tank that hide behind the smoke.
Any suggestion besides upgrading my GPU's driver and buying a new laptop?
Btw, my laptop is G50Vt-X1, and my driver's version is 186.03
Thanks everyone![]()

You can either force the game to use Dx9 by modifying the settings.ini in the Mydocuments BFBC2 directory which means you will miss out on many of the nice effects and HBAO. Change it so it says Dxversion=9.
Your other alternative is to install 196.86 Drivers along with a modified .inf but read through the thread before if you decide to go this route -
Yeah, I've been playing through BFBC2 too, and the smoke -does- make things kinda hard to see. But I figure that that's part of the game and all, y'know?

Yeah some areas have thick smoke/fog and you cant see but that is on purpose for sure, it adds to realism.
In real life if you have thick fog, looking down a zoom scope doesn't magically let you see through it. -

Upgrading GPU drivers from 186.81 to 195.62 was the only method that fixed all the graphic glitches I had (the map kept glitching itself all over my screen). Hope this helps.

It is not the smoke causing this, it is actual graphical glitches that just happen to occur more often when there are those elements on screen. Many have experienced those glitches with certain 186.xx or 187.xx drivers.
