I purchased the game on steam, I typed in my ea user account, then it asks for the key, I type in the key that steam gave me, and it says I can't connect immediately as if the key code is wrong. I am getting a bit upset. I have tried it 6 times now. Restarted steam and tried again same problem, "Unable to connect, Please try again" What the ****?

So you can't get past the "enter your key" screen?

Did you check for updates for Steam?

    Or try re-starting Steam?

I assume you copy-pasted the key, so I would assume that the key is entered correctly.

    How about a system restart?

A firewall maybe? Steam could just be busy too - I couldn't even complete a purchase once during a sale they were so overloaded. Tried a few hours later and it was ok.

    I totally forgot about that.

I bought a game on Steam once during a big sale they where having. I had such big problems that I couldn't even download the game until the next day.

Unless it's a Firewall problem (try looking here), you might just have to wait until later.

Don't let this little mishap ruin BFBC2 for you.

In all honestly, it's probably Steams problem.

Once you get it installed, and play it, you will be glad you got it.

If it's giving you a connection error and not an "invalid key" error, then there's nothing wrong with your key.

I think it was the people that purchased it after the recent patch. I just purchased cod4 and I am going to play the hell out of that. Hopefully by the time I grow tired of cod4 I will be able to play bfbc2 online....

Also has anybody managed to run this game on high settings at 60 fps? I can only get a constant 60 fps on all low settings and with that hbao option off. A bit odd because I can play crysis smoothly at 30 fps at high/ultra high settings and I play mw2 at 60 fps at all high settings.........also...this may be a stupid question....how do I make sure games are running at dx10 and not dx9?

EDIT: Can you believe my luck? Now I'm having an issue starting cod4. "Couldn't load image "missing_fx""

    Go to C:\Users\UserName\Documents\BFBC2

Open "settings.ini" with Notepad, go to the line:

    DxVersion=

And change it 9, so it looks like this: DxVersion=9
While you are at it, adjust the FOV value to around 70, example: FOV=75

As for COD4, try redownload the game, uninstall and reinstall, seems like either your download or installation was corrupted.

DISALLOWED PROGRAM/DRIVER 125120 and punkbuster kicks me out of every game....

Disable any on-screen overlays you have. Steam, Xfire, Mumble, EVGA Precision, MSI Afterburner, WeGame...PunkBuster considers any on-screen overlay a cheat, and they have no intentions of fixing it.

Battlefield bad company 2 is now working, I made my soldier: Chromatic Dust. Now hopefully I can join a game, and cod4 seems much more competitive than mw2 btw....

EDIT: I can't seem to even recognize any servers? It says 0 servers, and no games found......feels bad man

The best way to be sure you are playing at a certain DX level is to do 2 things...

    1. Update the config file in documents\bfbc2 settings file. DX=(auto, 9, 10, 11) By default it's set to auto.. Change it to 9 for dx9, 10 for dx10 and 11 for dx11.

    2. ) there are three different DX.DLL files in the game directory. If you really want to be sure you are running at 9 you can copy the 10.dll and 11.dll files to another folder (DONT DELETE THEM!!!!!!). I will have to update when I get home as I cant remember the exact name of the dx files off the top of my head. It's pretty obvious though.

    Best wishes,

    StevenX
