What do you guys think? BF Heroes is finally out. Im DLing it now as we speak. Ill add my thoughts after I get it up and running.

Anyone else played this game yet? Looking forward to it.

Looks like they've jumped on the cartoony style that TF2 first brought to the table. Looks interesting, I reckon it will be good fun.

And I played the beta for a while.. This game is pretty fun. It's casual enough where you can play for a few minutes without much experience and not be leagues behind other players.

 

ive been on the beta for months now and must admit it is very addictive.
now on level 17 and its starting to get a bit mad. depending who you set your caracter up as depends on which guns you can use and i seem to be getting my butt whipped as my shotgun has no chance with some of them out there.

its well worth the download though.

Check your email? I registered a while ago during the beta so I don't remember exactly what I needed to do to download it. The process is probably a bit different now anyways.

I think what I did was log in to my account at www.battlefieldheroes.com, and there should be a big red button that says "Play Now" or something like that.

 

So i managed to get the installer going but then it says "Error: Could not locate build" or something like that...

 

Maybe their servers are being hit hard right now? I don't think there is any way to download it other than from them.

 

Maybe download under high stress right now. Try again later and I am sure soon there will be mirrors and torrents for the file up soon as well.

it is completly free or you had to pay if u wanna play?

its a totally free multiplayer game.
there are pay options if you want to buy new cloths or guns etc but you dont need to purchase these.
the filesize i have is 374mb

minimum spec of:
* Operating System: Windows XP or Windows Vista
* CPU: 1.0 GHz
* RAM: 512 Mb (1Gb on Windows Vista)
* Video Card: 64Mb DirectX compliant video card with at least pixel shader 2.0 support
* Hard Drive space: 1Gb of space is required to install the game
* Internet connection: 256kbit Cable/DSL connection

Keep in mind that this may change somewhat by the time we release Battlefield Heroes. Nevertheless we are aiming for wide availability; we don't think anyone should have a super computer to be able to play and have fun.

 

Complete waste of time, and I haven't even gotten to the game yet.

1. Have to use IE, because it uses a ridiculous browser launcher to play and doesn't support Chrome.

2. The plug-in won't even install. I select "yes" and nothing happens.

I use Firefox as well and it works fine for me. No reason I'd want to go with IE

 

Firefox has worked fine for me since the beta started last year.

 

I heard that you have to buy the upgrades for guns, etc.

 

You have to pay for some of the upgrade stuff, but you don't have to pay to play.

It's fun, and you certainly do not need to buy any upgrades to have fun and kill people.

 

How big is the download?

 

there are 3 types of points. hero points,valour points and battle funds.
you get 1 hero point for every level you pass.
valour points are gained from playing the game and killing people.
battle funds cost wonga. 700 = £4.50/$7.50 1400 = £9/$15 2800 = £18/$29 700 = £45/$74
battle funds can be exchanged for special upgrades like level up faster and special clothing and widgets.
valour and battle funds can be exchanged for appearence,weapons,emotes and widgets.

does anyone else get a message saying couldent find a suitable server to connect to?>..
i seem to be getting this all the time..

 

i get that on occasions but i just click try again and it loads next time.
im on level 17 so shouldnt have that many problems. as it has just gone live imagine all the people around the world trying to load at the same time. give it a few minutes and try again.

 

a few points to make:

1. Battlefield heroes is fun. I feel like they took the essence of Battlefield 2-2142, cartoonized it, stripped away the bloat, the chunkyness, glitchyness, simplified, made an attempt at a community, a few excellent maps instead of many average ones, and called it a day. This is a GREAT thing.

2. Battlefield heroes is FREE.

3. I do not like that it plugs into a browser to launch, but I'll deal with it because of points (1) and (2). You'll need windows and IE or firefox.

4. You can pay for battlefunds if you want, but it isn't necessary. New guns are earned by playing the game, much like they were earned in the Battlefield 2, 2142, etc. You can also get access to a variety of widgets and clothes in a similar way, by using points earned by playing the game. More of these unlock as you level up your character.

5. We should get a group going to play this game.

6. I hate that song and I refuse to figure out the lyrics for you. (But I love the main whistle theme)

Definitely a hit as far as I'm concerned.

 

Anyone having problems finding a game? I can't at all, and I have all the necessary port forwarding set up.

 

same here,. tried for about 2 hours now,.
managed to get in to one. and had to disconnect unfortunately..
couldn't connect since then..

My problem isnt finding a game its running it. When I hit play now after I select my character it goes to a black screen and does nothing but freeze! Annoying the hell out of me because I really wanted to play this game.

Guys I got it to work now! It was my rocketdock that cause a problem and would not let me play. Also, I loved the graphics, the cartoonish type graphics is what im a big fan of!

 

This game is downright horrible. Alright I get it, it's free but that's not an excuse to release a horrible game, especially to the general public.

In terms of installation, I don't understand why it's so complicated to launch it. The whole process is just mush. I have to have a plug-in installed in FF or IE just to install it and I always need to start the game from my browser. Clicking on the .exe won't help.

Joining a game is downright laughable. They completely dumbed down and consolelized the process. I don't need the game to pick a server for me, I'm not stupid. Let me pick a server that I think is suitable for me. If you want to offer the option for people to quickly join a server, fine but don't ruin the experience for the rest of the people

Speaking of servers, I had to refresh the game multiple times until it actually found a server I could join in and start the game.

After which my game gets disconnected after 4 minutes of playing, saying there was a problem with my connection *facepalm*. I spent hours trying every fix on the BFH forums to get rid of the problem with no luck.

And then a few days ago, I get this nice surprise that the game doesn't even start anymore. I click "Play Now", the pop-up of the games comes up checking for the version, then it closes and the game doesn't start (no error shown).

I'm going back to my UT04 online matches that are hassle-free and just plain fun.

I just got done playing for 30 minutes or so and the only real problem I have with it is that you run really slowly and there is no sprint that I know of. Other than that its not bad for a free game.

 

guys did any of you get a account validation e mail after u signed up???..
because i cant seem to login anymore with out verifying my e mail, and i havent got this e mail. you can request one but still doesnt come..

Other than that - it's free and 'cute'.

 

I haven't had any bugs at all with this and it took like 5 minutes to download and install.

 

This game reminds me of TF2 I will give cautiously it a try...

 

Ok this looks like a lot of fun, downloading now!

The only thing that makes me wary is when only the hardcore 12 year old addicts get all of the best weapons from 1000 hours of gameplay and you go on the server as a casual gamer and get pwned.

 

theres a skill that the gunner has that you can sprint and also everyone around you when you use it, also the commando I think it has one

 

yes, you can sprint. you just have to rank up a bit to use it. i enjoy it more than TF2!

 

I start the game up and select my character. It then gets unable to connect (1000). I click ok and the game closes and after that my internet doesn't work. I have to reset my router to get my internet back up. Very annoying and when i google it, all i see is 50 threads of 1002 errors. Anyone else have the 1000 error?

 

I'm not aware of any other games that install themselves on my hard-drive and require me to launch them from an internet browser, unless the game is played online in the browser itself. It's just ridiculous, redundant, and unnecessary.
