Ok so I got Battlefield Bad company 2 (and im so excited :D :D :D ), and let me tell you, this game runs nice. I didnt change the settings when the game loaded (so it runs on medium settings, which shows a mix of med/high with 2xAA in the settings if I go advanced) on 1024x768, and it runs pretty smooth (and I mean online). I have a Intel C2D P8400 (2.26ghz) with 4GB ram and a 9600M GT.

However, because I'm running it at 1024x768 and my screen resolution is 1280x800, it keeps stretching my game whenever I join online. Does anyone know how to stop this?

I've tried the Nvidia control panel. I chose "use Nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio", but the form button thing keeps reverting to "Use Nvidia scaling", even when I choose keep resolution. However, it does use nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio when I go into TF2. It doesn't do that though when I join BFBC2 (or for BF2 either). Does anyone know why? My resolution in BFBC2 is 1024x768, but it keeps stretching it out to fill the whole screen, which I don't want.

You have to find a way to force aspect scaling with your drivers or a way to force your native resolution in the game.

It may also just be a setting in the game changing the in game aspect ratio so it is scaling properly but the game engine is rendering it improperly.

Check the official EA BFBC2 Forums, there is a forum specific to PC Players. There is a sticky on how to change your FOV (Field of View). The default settings are no where near what they should be and unfortunately they don't seem to change when you change your resolution.

Switch your desktop resolution to 1024x768, then check the "Use nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio" and click "Apply". Then switch back to your native resolution. For some reason you have to change each specific resolution to what scaling you want, and have to be in that resolution for it to take effect.

It sucks I know. It would be nice to make it universal for every resolution. Seems to vary from driver relese to driver release sometimes too.

Ok I tried that and it doesn't work. The only way I can get it to run @ 1024x768 is if I make that my default screen resolution and turn off Nvidia scaling.

I did fix the problem by going into settings.ini and changing the DxVersion to 9 instead of auto.

Thanks guys. Now i just have to clean out my laptop's dust so the game doesnt freeze every minute lol.
