It's like a crappier version of Battlefield 2. The point of it is to make money.

Eh, I wasn't terribly impressed. It's BF2's maps and engine with weapons and some gameplay elements from BC2, while not being as polished as either of them.

But, that said, it is free, and I guess it's better than no Battlefield at all. :p

I was hoping EA would release a graphics shell for BF2 like valve did for counterstrike while we wait for BF3 :D

Its Battlefield 2 ported over to the graphic engine they used for Battlefield Heroes.
But after watching youtube and reading reviews it sorta looks like its way inferior to BF2 (Also i guess its cheaper to buy that than spend money for ingame currency) but you cant argue with the price of "free".

Also here are some weapon codes for 1 day access to veteran weapons.
Please dont take all, just take 1 because its counts 24 hours from when its activated.

Its a big test, checking out the micro transaction market, web based playing market aswell. They are looking at the casual gamer that most likely doesnt have a high end laptop, but I think the biggest test is the micro tansaction market. Testing out do people just use the ingame money to pay for weapons selections, rent guns for a certain amount of days, or purchase a gun straight up. These kinds of games are BIG in Korea, they have a Counter Strike that does a similar thing, Crytek also has an MT-FPS in Korea aswell. They are testing the market in North america to see if we bite, its trying to find a constant stream of income from one game, offsetting the money they make from a short launch window to something like what WoW has done, generate income from one game for YEARS.

That said, I have it and I don't like it. I've played tons of FPS games over the years and the game is very stiff, Iffy controls, sub par graphics ( I know its a web game but still, standards people!). It doesn't give the vib of a well polished BF game at all, just a quickly put together proof of concept, that said its just beta so maybe the final experience will change to the final product.

So are the reviews correct in saying the weapons have basically all the same damage? And you have to buy weapons? That doesn't make sense to have to buy weapons but they dont do more damage?

    Weird..

    Anyway...

They do feel alot alike, within the same class mostly, like all snipers feel the same, all assault feel the same, and you don't have to buy a gun, they have 3 ways of getting more weapons, you gain points from playing games, you can spend those points kinda like CS:S right at the beginning of a match for a one time use of a new weapon, then after the match you'll have to rebuy, or you can rent with real money for 5 days I believe, then theres the buy gun and you'll own the gun and can use it unconditionally.
