I am thoroughly irritated with battlefieldbs.com and their servers to play Battlefield 2.
I have played their servers for at least the last year if not longer. I have donated over $50.
In the last month or so, I have been kicked twice and now banned for no apparent reason. It is impossible to login or post at their website as well, and have received ZERO response from any emails I have sent.
If anyone knows ANYONE related to BattlefieldBS have them PM me here, or I will have to spread the bad news at all the other forums I frequently visit, and have an influence with a couple online gaming mags as well.
-
no reason, eh
no bad language? saying anything inappropriate during gaming? not following rules..
i don't think an online gaming mag would write about one person's bad experience..whether you did anything or not..thats libel.
did you write in the forums? what was your username? if someone would go there we wouldn't find anything bad that you could have done to have yourself removed -
Sorry, but you sound like an upset and whiny kid. No PC gaming mag is going to write about some no name's clan server kicking some no name player in a game that no one plays anymore. I'm willing to bet that they don't care if you write about your bad experiences on other forums either.
-
Whatever. Believe what you will. I'm not a whiny kid. I'm a 35 year old father with one kid, second on the way. I work 50 hours a week and own my own home. My free time is very limited. I want to have fun when I get a chance. I believe in supporting games and servers that offer fair gaming. And stuff like this just ticks me off.
Yes, I'm pissed.
And regardless of how old a game is, does that make it OK to screw customers?
Daystar - Did you even try to join their forums and post before your empty accusations? Go ahead and try to join their forums, then can't read or post anything. I was only able to make ONE post and haven't been able to log in since. I have tried re-registering with alternate emails with no luck.
Mikelx215 - Think PC Gamer, Maximum PC, and Wargamer.com. I may have been out gaming journalism for some time, but I still have a say in the community.
'nuf said. -
I don't think one complaint is equivalent to screwing over customers.
Contact the administrator of the site, and solve this like a rational adult. No need to bring your high profile gaming journalists into a personal vendetta - unless this is a wider issue.
Also, you donated money. Technically, you're not entitled to anything. -
Did you read my post? I TRIED TO CONTACT ANYONE I COULD. Go to the site and see if you can find a contact before you post anything more.
I donated money because they were fair and reputable until now. Kind of like if you donated to United Way and found out that your money was used in a scandal. Oh wait, that happened too. -
htwingnut: I suggest you join the forum at www.bf2player.com. There are a lot of experienced players there with a lot of contacts in the BF2 community. One of them might be able to help you get in touch with the admins or atleast point you in the right direction for what to do.
In all honesty though, things like this happen all the time; it can all be blamed on immature kid admins who do not know how to properly run a server. Your best bet would be to find another server you enjoy playing on.
The chaps over at bf2player.com will definitely be able to suggest some fantastic servers out there populated by mature players. I'm a regular on that forum (sn: swerve1984) and can vouch for their expertise and knowledge of the game.
Hope this helped! -
Looks like a pretty badly designed site. Should have tipped you off.
http://www.battlefieldbs.com/policies.html <- make sure you didn't do anything wrong.
Try using a proxy server to create a new account, explain your situation to a moderator, and hope things go smoothly. They might get upset that you're trying to sneak back onto their community, but explain that you have no other way of contacting them. -
there are also other servers to play this game on..not just that battlefieldbs one.
i wasn't making accusations..notice my question marks..i simply asked you if you had actually done something.
you may still have a say in the journalism community, but you are one player that we know of..so far that has experienced this.. -
http://archive.gamespy.com/stats/
I think a supporting member who regularly plays on the server deserves better treatment and at least a proper explanation as to why he was banned.
This is why at Project Reality mod we take proper procedures and no longer freely distribute licenses to run Project Reality Mod servers, because as our lead developer put’s it “we’re looking for quality, not quantity”.
I suggest you ditch that server for good. -
Maybe your account was hijacked at some point and used for nefarious purposes?
Otherwise I'd say goodbye to the server unless some part of the community was really favorable. That whole place seems like bad news. $50 is a decent amount of money to be paying for server upkeep donations unless you are in good with the community. Maybe you have a few contacts on the inside you can work with to figure it out?
Either way, hope it works out, I hate when crap like this happens. -
This is my favorite server :|

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
I think you just broke rule "e"
"e. Disrespect to Server Admins, Clan members or our clan WILL result in a ban from all our servers." -
I never disrespected anyone. I never made a fuss or complaint, except when I got kicked for "placing claymores" in a spawn zone. They said don't do it again, I didn't, then the situation last night for no apparent reason and can't get any explanation any way or how. To me this is absolutely immature behavior.
Either way, I got a little too overzealous. I'm over it and will just avoid that server. I enjoyed the players there, but life goes on. Too bad though, I won't feel obligated to donate to any server in the near future after this treatment. -
I don't really understand what the origional fuss was about. Aren't there several hundreds, or thousands of servers on that game? I deal with banning people every day from my servers, and I bet many don't even know why they were banned, but I always have my reasons, and I'm sure they had a reason for it as well. I think you being a donator should atleast get you an explanation of why, but it's just a clan server run by average people who have no affiliation with the game publishers, they don't really have to have a reason, any server can ban you just because your you.
-
heh...it happens. Same thing happened to me on a CS:S server, I had played there for 3 years straight, and one day a retarded admin decided to ban me....I posted goodbye on their forums, and moved on.
-
Point is that it isn't always easy to find a good server. Once you do, you keep returning. I even donated because I wanted to support a server I play on regularly.
I never spent any time at their site or forums just wanted to play. They should have a public email because if you cant log on youre screwed.
That being said, to be fair, I was able to get back on their forums. I am waiting for a response. Looking at the "Complaints Department" forum there are dozens of complaints about getting banned. Either a glitch or just trying to reinforce rules, don't know. But seems like a poor way to handle the situation. -
Yeah Battlefield BS is the only decent server on BF2. It's true. I dont play BF2 unless i can get onto their servers. Most servers suck
-
I agree that there are a lot of bad servers out there where the admins are a bunch of kids, but you should look around a bit more, you'd be surprised! -
I dont understand why everyone seems to be ganging up on htwingnut. if everything he says is true his situation sucks and isn't his fault. He just posted is rant in a gaming forum which is fine.
-
Does that server play anything apart from Karkand and Wake Island? -
SoE specifically runs three servers: 24/7 Iron Gator, a Wake Island server, and a 24/7 I/O Karkand/Ghost Town server. These are listed on their website. The SoE guys are fantastic players all with a lot of experience. They are all older mature players and believe in fair and fun play.
The resource I listed before, http://www.bf2player.com/forum/, is an excellent forum to meet experienced BF2 players. I have learnt A LOT from them and their help has definitely helped me improve my game. For example, through their help I learnt to fly jets and have improved my flying game substantially. I have also made good friends with a lot of their members and have met many of them in-game. It really makes your gaming experience better when you know other people out there who you can play with, and squad up with.
With regards to this thread, there actually is a "Servers/Players to Avoid" section on bf2player.com where you can list abusive admins, bad servers, known hackers, etc. It actually helps me to choose which servers to play on and which servers not to play on.
I don't want to advertise for another forum too too much on NBR, but bf2 player is a great resource for all you BF2 players out there looking to improve your gaming experience, and join a mature gaming community. -
sorry, just to clarify, www.bf2player.com IS NOT A CLAN. It was created as a BF2 community where BF2 players can come together and share their gaming experiences/expertise with others. It is run by three clans (BiT, SoE, WTF) in the form of a 'server alliance'.
-
Thanks for the bf2player.com link. I will definitely look into that.
Also, I believe everything has been resolved.
I was banned because I accused someone of having an "aimbot" who ended up being an admin. I made the comment in jest, but it got me banned. They could have at least gave me warning, and all I had to say was "sorry, I was just talking smack". -
cool, i'm happy it worked out for you! If you join bf2player, my screen name is 'swerve1984', give me a shout lol
-
http://www.moongamers.com/
That's where I go for fast few years and I never had any problems. There's always admins on to take care of abusie players. great community, really worth checkin out. -
Ok, I've officially had it with -BS- servers. They feel they are almighty righteous or something.
After I thought everything was resolved, I was accused of bunny hopping. I jumped to throw a grenade to get the extra distance, and got two kills of -bs- members from it. I got banned because of it.
Good riddance to Battlefield BS.... Please don't bother with them. Even after they take your money, they will single you out, and kick and ban you repeatedly if you outplay or outsmart them.
I play for fun. I play fair. I don't have lots of free time. So word of warning.
... LordHelmet out ... -
LOL. Shows to their character. Called me a retard.
Of course went back and changed their post when I called them out on it. -
That sucks... I have a friend who gets banned a lot of CS:S just because he is really good. He consistently owns people and gets accused of hacking quite frequently. People are just jealous.
-
Yes, I'm beginning to realize it now that I've actually become EFFECTIVE I've been kicked on several servers (not banned) accused of cheating or other "outside the rules" reasons. It's taken me over 400 hours to get there. Give me SOME credit please!
-
these guys sound like jerks ^ ^

youdontneedtoknow Notebook Evangelist
Here is what you should do, contact your senator and have law makers to make new regulations so that games can not screw people up without getting legal consequences!
-
Thanks youdontneedtoknow. That's just what I'll do.
-
glad everything to worked out!
sorry if i sounded like i was blaming you earlier..didn't mean to.
i am a stay at home mom. i have 2 kids. and when i have free time i'm either able to play a quick game or get things done.
just wanted you to know i know how it feels to not get very much free time..lol -
LOL... no problem Daystar.
I work 50 hrs/week and we have an infant son and another one on the way. Shortly after my wife got preggers with the second one, our current son was only three months old, she had an accident and broke her pelvis and wrist, so was off work for a few months to cater to baby and wife. So now I cherish my free time as you can understand. Thankfully all is well and will have baby 2 in a couple months, so will cherish my free time even all that much more.
It's all good. I got a little carried away, but I was just very irritated is all. Apologies for wasting everyone's time with my rant. -
Wow, what an overreaction.
Drama queen, much? -
Stuff like that happens everywhere.
About 3 weeks ago I was almost banned and blacklisted from some AssaultCube servers cause I was kicking a cheater who turned out to be a member of the clan that ran the server we were playing at.
Thank god AC is free - can't really imagine OP frustration on being banned for pretty much nothing even when he was a contributing member. -
did you use birth control at all..lol -
-
But to ban someone immediately, then to get chastised when you take the time to make a polite post at their site and told you're a retard and puts words in your mouth, I have zero respect for.... -
Hello htwingnut
You seem to have forgotten to mention arguing with admins INGAME about our rules which at times leads to a server out of control. You were banned from the web page for your rude comments. (guess you were upset)
Could you post the email address you have donated from because I have no record of you donating. I do not believe you to be a cheat or a hack so I will lift your ban. I am sorry if you are an adult, you came off as another punk kid and I have to deal with so many perhaps I brought the ban hammer out to early.
If you choose to return we shall see. If not best wishes.
(-BS-)GodFather -
htwingnut
I do not see you in the ban list?
Are you sure there is not something going on with your account? -
-
Battlefieldbs.com is an adult gaming clan that admins our servers and our site fairly.
It's a shame that so many posters on this thread failed to give us the benefit of a doubt.
HTWingnut hasn't retracted his statement to avoid us, although he is back on our site and servers. -
Can't yall let it go???
Why is suddenly the entire BS community joining these forums? To defend your "honor"? -
You could always play on our servers. *shameless plug*
-
People get angry really easily gaming online.. I can see how someone like him would have gotten banned XD
-
Arguing and pleading your case are two entirely different things. After being accused of "bunny hopping", I wasn't whining or crying, I simply stated that I didn't "bunny hop" and was throwing a grenade to get better distance. The two kills I got with it are testament to that fact.
I was then told that jumping doesn't help get extra distance. I disagreed with the in-game admin, which got me kicked. I stated just the facts, no negative tone (I was typing too, not talking). When showing them the facts on their forums that patch 1.2 indeed allowed for more distance and higher throw of a grenade with jumping, I quickly had words put in my mouth "You came into our servers telling us our rules did not make sense". Again, I did no such thing. I just proved them wrong and -BS- didn't like it, so they banned me and called me a 'tard (which was eventually edited and removed).
This weekend, I accidentally clicked a -BS- server, and when the server screen popped up was surprised I was in a -BS- server.
After that I did join a couple more times on the vehicle maps as I haven't done those in a while. All was good, except for a -bs- member bugging me to read the post I made, thought they meant their forums, but apparently meant here.
Yes, initially I was pissed. Yes I probably overreacted here. That being said, I was very surprised at the defensive attitude of all the -BS- players. It's a game to have fun. I may break a rule now and again inadvertantly, but I also want it to be fun for everyone else so do my best to play by the rules.
In the end it's all good. If I can play their servers, I will. If I get kicked or banned, that's ok too. I've found quite a few other good servers too.
-BS- guys have a job to do to keep the servers free of hackers and insubordinates, and I respect that. But to BAN people frequently at a first offense, or being accusationary without any explanation is plain juvenile. It's supposed to be a mature adult server. Treat the players as such. -
-
I agree with you htwingnut.
They banned me for bunny hopping after i jumped over a guy and threw a grenade......... They didn't even warn me. I eventually got them to reverse the ban, but a few weeks later i was given a warning for jumping and throwing a grenade. I just let it go, but i still get annoyed with some of their admins. They go overboard with their "admin" power
BattlefieldBS.com - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
