Basically, the last game I played on PC was AvP2 years ago. Now I want some beautiful games that I can max out on my system. I'm into RPGs, FPSs, RTSs, and Action/Adventure games. I'm definately getting Crysis. What else should I pick up? Especially cheap games.
My specs:

Single Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX Graphics with 512MB DDR3 Video Memory

I'm with you, man. I'm just getting back into PC gaming, too. The only game I really played on my old system was WoW, which I quit because it wastes too much of your life. My new desktop (which I've only had for two days) is just about as fast as your rig, except my video card is a bit faster since it's a desktop card. Here's a list of most of the games I'm going to downl- I mean try and I think you'll probably like them, too.
Crysis
Call of Duty 4
Bioshock
Unreal Tournament 3
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Lord of the Rings Online
Age of Conan (MMORPG)
Company of Heroes
Area 51: Blacksite
Timeshift
Half-Life 2: Orange Box
Lost Planet
Gears of War
Assassin's Creed (April PC release)
Devil May Cry 4 (April/May/June PC release...)
Mass Effect (May PC release)
I'll probably think of more later, but, trust me, they're all must-play games! -
I should probably mention the games I have on console:
BioShock
COD4
Oblivion GOTY
Orange Box
Far Cry
Two Worlds (terrible on console)
Halo 1 and 2 -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Bioshock
Half-Life 2, Ep1, Ep2
Crysis
The Witcher
Prey
UT3
Farcry
Company of Heroes
COD 4
Doom 3
Quake 4
F.E.A.R.
I like all of these -
what pc do you have? It doesnt look like a notebook...is it a notebook?
-
The Orange Box is a great deal. Get Call of Duty 4 too, its fun in multiplayer. Bf2142 is a pretty solid game too. Its in all the bargainbins right now. Its a great games, even 2 years after release.

www.gamerankings.com is your friend. you can check out several reviews before you make your purchase. i'm sure it'll give you a better idea than me listing bunch of games.
-
-
I forgot about Gamerankings! On a side note, does anyone know if AvP2 will work with Vista? I never was able to run it on full, and it was such a kick ass game.

It should if you run it with Steam.
-
It's a Steam game now?
-
Me wanty that notebook
Definently get CoD4, one of the best FPSs you can get and the majority of people will agree
EDIT: Wow, I'm a Guru now? Go me!! -
Sneaky_Chopsticks Notebook Deity
For RTS:
WORLD IN CONFLICT, that is the most amazing RTS I have ever played. -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
-
Supreme Commander and World in Conflict are highly recommended strategy games, but if you do get the Witcher I would hold off until the rerelease in May since it fixes most of the complaints that gamers raised in the 1st edition.

-
Wow, WiC is sounding like a good buy, I might get it, but can anyone confirm if it will run on my system, the sys requirements are pretty close but they're never 100% accurate
-
If you only have the 7150, World in Conflict is going to struggle. You're looking at 800x600, low settings.
-
your system specs will destroy any game thrown at for years to come. it's amazing to see a core 2 quad in a laptop. enjoy!!!
-
Please do yourself a favor and pick up Company of Heroes and, if you're into narrative/plot/atmosphere, Bioshock. Bioschock is one of the more engrossing games ever created with probably the most unique and best atmosphere ever presented.
Been out of PC gaming for a LONG time. Getting my new 9262 next week.
