A game giveaway on this forum is hardly original during this season, I know, but I'm a big fan of all of the games in the GOG.com Belated Halloween bundle and for $8.49 I'm itching to buy it regardless of the fact that I already own them all. If I can get just one of your lame Call of Duty butts interested in some quality gaming, I'll be as happy as a clam.
So here's what's up:
Since this deal is only available for 24 hours and I need an email address for the recipient, this is going to be a quickie. I'm going to bed in a few minutes and when I get up I'll choose a winner by whatever arbitrary means I like and contact him or her via PM as well as posting here. I might PM a runner-up or two as well just to ensure that I have an email address before the bundle's gone.
Eligible participants will be valuable members of this forum, preferably members of the possibly-shrinking demographic who have never won anything on this forum. Things like being a member for however long and having a certain amount of quality posts are probably somewhere in the fine print.
To enter, say something interesting. Then respond to something interesting that someone else has said (unless you're the first to respond, since I haven't said anything particularly interesting here). Quality of content will be taken into consideration. Creative writing would be cool too - I was going to make that a requirement, but that could lead to some rather long posts.
If you want to say something interesting but you don't want to be considered for the bundle, that's fine too.
If you want to disqualify yourself from the giveaway, tell me how great a guy I am for spending a lousy $8.45 to give a bunch of great games to somebody I don't know. Certainly I understand that this is a nice thing to do and your mom taught you to say thank you to nice people, but let's just pretend you already said it (or didn't) and move past that part.
Oh, and since I remembered about them before hitting "Submit New Thread", runners up can have Nuclear Dawn and/or The Void on Steam if they want them - they've been sitting in my Steam Gifts box for a year now...

Cow farts contribute more to climate change than cars in the USA. Methane is twice as potent as carbon dioxide is. Also Obama campaigned on clean coal energy, which really just meant coal industry investing in carbon capture, hasn't happened yet. They have this technology, some have it already installed, but it's too expensive for them to do it and have not thought of where to store the captured carbon.
Oh and the ice caps are melting twice as fast today than they were just ten years. Climate change is happening for sure, but it's also definitive it's caused by us super smart, super awesome homo sapiens.
Also sustainable farming is stupid. Our planet with sustainable farming can sustain less than 4 billion people, and ummm, yeah, for sustainable farming to work, we'd have to slaughter about 3 billion people. Think about that hippy loser. You want to be the next Hitler?
Often people think "NATIVES" are more attuned with nature. Well, the megafauna of Australia survived multiple ice ages, multiple climate changes, then ALL of them disappeared in the last 50,000 years. Guess who arrived 50,000 years ago in Australia? Natives. Australia was believed to be once a lush, forest filled, vibrant land of creatures, today it's one of the driest continents, it's nearly a continent of desert. The current thinking now is, the "NATIVES" changed the entire environment. Whacking down trees, burning trees, and once you destroy a certain percentage of the environment, there is a tipping point. Desertification occurred and the megafauna went extinct.
Why should we care? The "NATIVES" in South America are doing the same. That and corporations, either way, once we reach beyond a certain point in the deforestation, the desertification will be nearly unstoppable. South America could become the next Australia.
Did you know there is enough water under the Sahara to sustain entire Africa and possibly Middle East? Yup. And also you can find whale bones in the Sahara. And there are ancient artwork of men living near water, fishing etc. Meaning just 10,000 years ago or so, Sahara was lush.
Also, America is not a Country, It's a Business, Now Give me my Money!
- Jefferson is a mythical hero because he wrote, all men are created equal while his children lived in slavery and his mistress was a slave.
Probably the only good part of that movie, the last 5 minutes of it. -

You're aware that modern civilization is responsible for a whole lot more pollution, waste, consumption, and extinction than "NATIVES," rite? As for our ancestors wiping Mammoths from the face of the planet, it's a classic example of how human "progress" can have disastrous results. As our technology, population, and consumption grow, we endanger our planet's resources and future generations of mankind. Your arguments sound pretty environmentalist to me, hippy.
Also OP, I'm not entering your contest but I just wanted to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU YOU'RE SUPER AWESOME AND NICE KBAYE! -

So far we have an interesting, if somewhat invective, rant about the environment and three non-qualified posts. I'm gonna play a little LA Noire on this vacation morning and give it another hour or so before I choose a winner. Is it really going to come down to simply participating?

Congratulations hulawafu77. By way of being the only actual participant, you are the unanimous winner. The sooner you send your email, the better, since I might be welcoming the New Year for the last several hours of the bundle's availability.

if huluwafu doesn't bite, count me in.
Here's my interesting contribution:
Two boys wish to cross a river. The only way to get to the other side is by boat, but that boat can only take one boy at a time. The boat cannot return on its own, there are no ropes or similar tricks, yet both boys manage to cross using the boat.
How?
If it's acceptable, a subsequent poster could try to solve the riddle (don't cheat).
As for hulawafu's contribution, my comment is a suggestion- to adhere to the adage promoting quality over quantity. This simple advice could prevent many a future rambling diatribe. -
