Im preparing to write a review about my new lap and would like to do some benchmarks, but not only 3Dmarks. I would like to do some game benchmarks as well so Im making a small list of games I should include.
I also thought it would be a good guide for newbies what to incluede in test to see how well/bad does the new laptop performs.
I would create a list of games/benchmarks with links to free/demo/trial versions so ppl can download them.
My small list:
3Dmark 2005
3Dmark 2006
[no point of testing 2003 and 2001 anymore]
CinemaBench 9.5
any other point giving benchmark??
F.E.A.R demo
Medieval 2: Total War [not sure about this one yet] demo
Half Life 2 demo
Bioshock demo
Crysis demo
Assasins Creed demo
how do You think this should be tested?? just Fraps??
please feel free to add to the list, we can select a list of 5-6 games that can show what the graphic card is capable of so people can write reviews that will be more consistent/comparable. This would be obviously upgraded/newer games added/old removed.
Let me know what do You think!

F.E.A.R, Bioshock, Crysis, Counterstrike, Oblivion, etc would be the most helpful.
edit: also overclocking + scores would also be very helpful. temperatures and battery life also:0

sweet, seeing how u got an ati hd2600!
for games, u can use fraps, but from what i heard it might lower the fps, but not by too much... -
I wanted to do stock drivers w bloatware from manufacturer, then turn off/uninstall all unnecessary stuff and after that test after clean install. O/C also will be included.
What CS version is currently around?? I was thinking about Stalker as well. Maybe instead Oblivion. -
Half-Life 2 and Counterstrike are good, but add in Lost Coast as well.
-
(especially for a relatively new series card)
-
Ehm.. what is that game??
Why should it be included?? -
I am also planning on getting the 8510p (same configuration it seems too).
If it is not too much trouble could you see how Battlefield 2 runs. If you don't have the game, you can use the demo here:

It is still a taxing game, so it would be interesting to see how it performs. -
Lost Coast is just a level created off of the Half-Life2 Engine. It includes the HDR lighting model that they implemented inside of Day of Defeat Source. You can read more at the link below:

I'd say Medal of Honor: Airborne, World in Conflict, perhaps even GRAW2, even thought it's a bit unoptimised from what I've heard..
-
How about Pro Evolution Soccer 6? It's not the most graphically intensive game but it's a game that a lot of people play and it would be nice to see how it performs at higher resolutions. Personally I play it at 800x600 (high settings) on a P4 3 GHz/Radeon 9800 Pro to get a stable 60 FPS.
I don't think it's necessary to benchmark every shooter on the market. -
-
I was going to say the same thing but then I thought.. maybe RivaTuner doesn't work with ATI. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
-
pes6 is a tight butt game, love it...though, not graphically intense, it delivers a great performance...used to run in all high on 1400*1050 with everything on high on mobility 9700....

dunno, it was running smooth as silk
