Hey guys,
Please forgive me, I know this has been talked about before. But I can not find benchmarks for this card. Are there any current benchmarks for this card that used 512mb and confirmed gddr3 memory? Thanks.![]()

The benchmarks for the 512MB 8600M-GT should be no different than the 256MB version.
-
No laptop with a 8600M GT 512MB GDDR3 has come out yet. The Compal IFL90 uses 512MB GDDR2, so does the Zepto 6224W and the Acer Gemstone.
The Asus C90s might have 512MB GDDR3 but wont know for sure till it comes out. -
Doesn't the new Macbook Pro use GDDR3 in it's 8600M GT?
-
Yes the Macbook Pro and the Asus G1S/G2S all use the 8600M GT with Gddr3. But they all have 256MB or vram and the smallest macbook only 128MB. GDDR3 and 512MB is not out yet.

I would like to see that. Can you post some RVtune picture? or benchmarks?
The Zepto IFL90 uses 400mhz GDDR2 for sure. And all other reivews dont tell about VRAM but the benchmark scores are the same as the Zepto indicating it is GDDR2 also. -
The Evesham Zieo N500-HD does. It has been reviewed and the specifications posted here.
-
hmmm ok. So there might be some after all. Or atleast they say it has GDDR3. No screenshots to back it up and only none comparable benchmarks.
Anybody know what this Evesham Zieo N500-HD is based on? The barebone i mean. -

someone just posted this in the compal section http://www.techzonept.com/showthread.php?t=163760
8600 GT 512 DDR3(screenshot of it halfway down the page) -
Nice find. It is too bad that the 8600gt is not even that close to the 7900gs in stock performance. I wonder how the compal 90 will handle the extra heat produced from overclocking the video card. Can you do irreversible damage by overclocking the video card? -
It is running at 400mhz double pumped to 800mhz. It is clocked identical to the Zepto laptops. The benchmarks are almost identical too the Zepto.
Either it is super slow GDDR3 or it is a mistake and really GDDR2.
If the 512MB is also clocked at 400mhz just like the GDDR2 then it doesnt matter if its GDDR2 or GDDR3.
The Macbook pro and the G1s are clocked at 700mhz double pumped to 1400mhz. -
So are there any benchmarks of that Zepto, at least?
-
sure.... there are lots: This is for a Zepto 6224W with a 8600M GT
core 513mhz /shaders 1026mhz /memory 400mhz is the standard.
The memory is the base frequancy and gets double pumped to 800mhz (just like DDR2 RAM)
Tested under Windows-Vista(32Bit)

There are more all over the place but I cant find them now. will post again if i find more -

The G1S uses GDDR3 while the Zepto uses DDR2. The G1 has 256MB while the Zepto has 512MB.
3dMark06 @ 1280x1024
G1S - 3630
Zepto - 3100
3dMark06 @ 1024x768
G1S - 4746
Zepto - 3833 -

Wow, that is a huge difference. That is really too bad, I was really excited about the compal 90, but with such a poor graphics performer, its looking like a weaker option even for a mild gamer. Damn, I was hoping for much more with this graphics card...it seems compal neutered it severely.

Info about overclocking:

It's too bad the 8600gt can be distributed as an underperformed card. It was supposed to be, or was shown to me to be the holy grail of mobile graphics power. I guess we start the waiting game alll over again.
It seems that the speed of the memory is more important than the actual size. Because the card can access things faster means more FPS... = better overall performance. w00t lol How much does the size of the allowed memory matter anyway? -
The thing is that Compal is using DDR2, which is inherently limited in its speed. Asus and Apple, using GDDR3, can achieve much higher bandwidth.
-
the difference between 1024*768 and 1280*1024 scores of 3dmark06 is huge! Is it because of the limited bandwidth?
The difference in 3dmark06 with both resolutions isn't that big with my card. (maybe 500 points or so) -
I bought the 8600GT 512mb which came overclocked out of the box.
Core Clock: 565MHz
Shader Clock: 1242MHz
Memory Data Rate: 1400Mhz
My previous GC was a 8500GT, and trust me I saw a big difference in gameplay. This GC easily handles Company of Heroes, Command and Conquer 3, Doom 3, Quake 4, Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare.
However, I did see some minor lags when I played Gears of War (PC version).
In all these games I put the resolution at 1240*1048 and high graphics. Yet, I did put the shader on low and a 2X AA. The card cost about $200 for me, but I bet you can find one for about $140-160.
4 out of 5 for me. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
out of the box?
so that means you bought it for a desktop.
we are talking laptops here, for the record. you can buy a 512 meg 8600 gt gddr3 for a desktop no problem.
Benchmarks of the 8600gt 512mb version?
