    Hello,

Budget isn't problem I need the most powerful GPU in 15.4 laptop from these brands, I prefer nVidia over ATI, but I don't mind to have ATI if their mobile GPU currently better than nVidia mobile GPU.

At the moment, the ASUS G1p is with the 7700.

However, there will soon be newer models which will leapfrog it.

Yes, I suggest you wait for another week or so till new notebooks with DX10 gpu's like the 8600gt start showing up.

I prefer the ASUS V1J series over the G1. It is part of ASUS's business line which is more durable and has better build quality. Unfortunately it has the ATI X1700 video card. I am not sure when ASUS will update the V1J series.

Would we see mobile dual core in 15.4 laptops?

As mentioned the Asus G1p is the most powerful gaming system in 15.4" right now...but will soon be one-upped with Centrino Pro (Santa Rosa) and new GPUs coming out over the summer.

By dual-core--are you referring to SLI (dual-GPU)? I can't see that happening in anything smaller than 17".

    Yes, I meant Dual-GPU.

Is there any 17" with SLI now?

From what I have heard, the G1 is great, but it gets really hot, and because you wanted the 15.4" I assume that you want portable, and lapable (ability to put it on your lap) gaming. Because of this, I think the ASUS V1J would be a better option if you want cool performance, but if you want all performance and a fair bit of heat, go with the G1. They are both good systems, so it comes down to personal preferance.

There is nothing hot about the asus g1p

it probably runs cooler than the v1j

Thank you. I am not the only one who thinks the V1JP is a superior laptop compared to the G1.

I think Asus VX2 or G1 are the fastest 15.4 gaming laptop

The VX2 has the T7400, compared to the G1's T7200. Other than that (and the fantastic looks on the VX2), they're very much the same.

The Asus C90 is coming in the next week or so - it's a new 15.4" notebook that will support the Geforce Go 8600GT as well as desktop Conroe processors (such as the E6420 or the E6600). The Santa Rosa refresh of the G1 is also coming, and it will have a Geforce Go 8600GT.

Another brand to look out for is Compal, with the refresh of their HEL80 barebones laptop, which for the Merom version had a Geforce Go 7600.

    Is C90 a newer version of VX2?

What about F3Sv? I'm so confused now.

i too agree with homer here
and had osted my views in anoother thread about the same
though i agree it is better than G1 in terms of build quality the 7700 on the g1 beats the 7700 by a few 3dmarks
other than that the V1jp would take home the cup for everything else including looks especially the business like look of brushed auminium

No, C90 is a totally different laptop. You can search the internet (or the forum to see what it does, it uses an desktop Conroe CPU and has an upgradeable 8600GT on the downside it's heavier and it's battery life is very little]
F3Sv is the Santa Rosa refresh of F3 series with a 8600M GPU.

    i agree with mujtaba
it is also the business line of the asus series and as expected has great build quality and is well balanced in terms of portability and battery life
though there is quite a difference in benchmarks between the two above mentioned GPUs it equals less heat and more battery time
which is quite useful when your on the go

I didn't get the External GPU Ram and the 4 GB, does it mean it can share the system ram beside it has dedicated 256 MD of ram?

    How about G1S vs F3Sv?

So do you think the RAM size would be controlled via the bios like Acer 5102, and xpress 1100?

256mb dedicated Vram, system memory can be shared as needed like other new cards.
