yeaaaaa, crawmerax has been creamed with my orion shock sniper. They said it couldn't be done, but after studying movement patterns and elemental weakness, i beat him solo with roland. Turret is essiential for a distraction though. Only way to hit the back spot.
great suggestions guys. Keep them comming, and maybe we'll compile to make a 'best of co-op list' :-D

Not sure if it counts but on BF2142
Playing titan mode just joined the server and was trying to get into the groove of things, trying to creep to a silo no one on our team seemed to want to try to take over, just as i get there 2 APC loads of other team members rock up and we take the point, from that moment on i tagged along with them, as far as i could make out it was just a group of randoms, none of them were in a squad or anything and over the course of 15 minutes we cruised around the map raising hell, taking silos, helping each other out, reviving dead team mates etc until the enemy titan shields went down when we proceeded to take out the titan ourselves by boarding it, and destroying the 4 reactor cores and the main core with lots of RDX packs (destroying the titan felt like it took us 5 minutes max).
Felt so awesome. -
I don't play well with others... but I've had some fun with Battlefield 2 getting the right people in your squad.

oh wow GOOOD TOPIC!
my favorite was a game called Space Cowboys or Ace Online.
Literally hundreds of players in high tech fighter jets dueling with each other on massive maps.
Game summary:
Game is split into two alliances.
Map is split equally in half between the two alliances.
To reach the enemy HQ, you must travel from your HQ (your own side), while dominating each enemy controlled area.
At one time we had like 300 hundred pilots and we massed at the halfway point between the two HQs. Then one by one we overpowered their pilots by flying into the enemy controlled areas at the same time and loading in at the same time. So it was a giant blob firing missile after missile. Once we powered inside we quickly rush to the other side of the map to reach the next area. We did this until we reached their HQ and laid siege mode onto the enemy spawn point (some fighters act like ground artillery).
Was pretty funny cuz the area we reached is full of lowbies and we must have messed up their leveling.
The PvP was very coordinated since an Alliance President can speak to ALL pilots on our side. And whenever we were about to enter new territory, it was 300 pilots yelling GOOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGo! Epic.
This game was the only massive pvp game that actually worked really well. 100 vs 100 was easy and ridiculously fun. In the initial engagement the lowbie pilots would get shot down leaving the higher ups to "duel". Plane after plane shot down and spawning over and over again (instant spawn). But lowbies help a lot and they can easily get into the action! Since it was instant spawn, it was all about brute force in numbers swarming enemy pilots.
In 100 vs 100 fights, and when you enter enemy territory and they are camped waiting for you to load, your screen just goes red with LOCK DOWN LOCK DOWN LOCK DOWN! 50 missiles flying at you! If you got real good you can dodge it all though =P
It also tells you how many players you shot down and what their rank was.
I used to have pictures but I lost em =( -
oh and Guild Wars....when number two gets out get it!
pvp is amazing.
one time our guild got really good and we went to an international stage and played against other players. We were so stoked until we saw that one of the teams (we faced) were full of KOREANS! half our team went f this and gave up hope. Needless, to say they rolled us with this crazy 1 man rush in with hammer with 20 buffs, magic immunity, and focus heals.
like scared idiots we focused on that one guy while their team picked us off one by one.
My fav guild wars strat was leading our team in nuke countdowns. We would have 5 casters and 3 healers (no warriors). I would target one enemy and call him out. Then I would count 1, 2, 3, lightning strike, lightning blast, shock. All five casters would mimic me simultaneously and the enemy healers could never heal in time. We got into the top 50 guilds like this lol, b4 facing much more skilled players. -
Recently I started playing Battlefield Heroes, a free online shooter available at www.battlefieldheroes.com. Very interesting approach to co-op game. Simple graphics, but a very enjoyable game. Try it out folks, and give some feedback ;-)

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
Battlefield Heroes is not a co-op game.
Traditionally, a co-op game is a multiplayer game where there all the human players work together (on the same team).
Battlefield heroes sets two teams of human players against each other. -
Okay, You got me there
I'ts still a good multiplayer game, let's say CTF
Worth mentioning at least, I think
-
Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. Best co-op game ever.
-
Warbirds, an MMO World War II flight simulator. For almost 10 years I was a member of a 20+ people squadron. weekly we participated in 200+ people dogfights and ground attacks. Nothing compares to it.
-
Here's a list:
EVE Online (best MMO ever made, participating in 500+ player battles with your clan is truly epic. EPIC!)
Call of Duty: World at War Nazi Zombies
Borderlands (Co-op is quite fun)
The best is EVE Online. This game has so much to offer, a HUGE ammount of different ships, there's so much you can do in a battle, it's just amazing.
E: Ok, EVE Online is not a real Co-op game, but I've never seen a game before which requires so much teamwork. -
Lol I tried Eve Online.. takes way to much time to actually have fun.
-
Though im not a great fan of the series. Gears of War 1. Me and My Buddy were playing co-op on a 60" HD with surround sound. we were flying through the horde easily until we met the blind beserker. Its a small part of the game but it completely changed the game's pace so much that we had to actually work together in order to take it out. It took us a while to figure out that we couldnt hurt it with just bullets and grenades and just the sheer speed of it caught us off guard. eventually after trial and error we figured out to run it into the pillars by drawing its attention and dodging it at the last second. it was a blast.

Recently though, I'd have to go with Left4dead! -
Zombies Ate My Neighbors for SNES.
-
Age of Empires 1 and 2
Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2
AOE2 was the best though. -
L4D2 FTW. Period.
-
Don't laugh but I love playing Bugs and Taz: Time busters on PS1 with my cousin when I was small. Its the most fun co-op I ever played, it really need 2 players to make the game work

warhammer 40k chaos rising campaign. gauntlet ledgends ^^ classic
this new magica game on steam kinda reminds me of gaunlet -
- Splinter Cell: Conviction (360)
- World of Warcraft (Rated BG's) (PC)
- Command & Conquer 3/4 (PC)
...my best co-op experiences in the last few years. I really only play co-op games now and cannot stand single player ...I feel too lonely since I've been playing co-op/multiplayer for a significant amount of time over the years. -
In case someone already named the game then sorry i do not really feel like looking over 7 pages
But if you are looking for co-op that is also funny i suggest to try Serious Sam .
I had lots and lots and lots of fun playing that with my friends.
Hell even my stephfather played with us hehe -
killing floor (pc), diablo II (pc), res evil 5 (xbox 360/ps3), trine (ps3), worms (xbox360/ps3), black ops zombies (ps3), sometimes mario parties, some rpg's on pc, warcraft III (pc), etc.
-
We strictly talking split screen co - op , or online co op part of this too? Id list something like Contra (arcade version), Raiden(any they are all awesome), Star Wars Battlefront 1 + 2, Rainbow six vegas, oh and for WII definitely check out New Super Mario Bros., up to 4 players at a time, all being a pain in the rump.....
-
The best co-op game I ever played was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV for the SNES.
I'm sure you can emulate it. Hmm, but then you probably might not be able to play co-op. Hmm, and people seem to only suggest modern games so maybe this one is too classic. So my choice probably doesn't help the OP lol. But hey I stand by what I said, TNMT IV for the SNES is the best co-op game of my life. -
Co-op experiences...hmmmm....some are mentioned already.
Counter-strike with 4 people on one team, and 16 bots on the other with knives and expert difficulty. Amazing how we played from 3pm to 6am and still wanting more; bots cornering you are scary...especially when they're not realistic and just humping you.
Lost Planet 2 campaign (extreme difficulty and full team) + multiplayer with VS spawns to max. Oh heart attack! -
Sunset Riders (SNES), ridiculous fun.

PSO and its few iterations is probably my favorite MMO of all time.
Good mix of social, gear grinding, good music and stages, and that nice JP touch.
I got banned from PSU for having a hacked item though, so I do not play anymore, really sucks. It was given too me via trade I didnt even know it was hacked (though I questioned it)
Best Co-Op experience in your life?
