169.01 is solid driver
I'm also getting 4.1K 3DMarks with this driver
Good work nVidia -
Please delete this post.
-
169.01 are the latest drivers rite?
-
-
are they better than 167.26?
-
now when you say 530/500....is taht core clock/memory clock??? -
Yes core first, then memory.
-
I currently have 163.69 and I'm thinking about getting the 167.26 that everyone is hyping about. Is it worth it? I don't care about the 3Dmark score I could careless, I'm talking about real game performances, is it worth all the trouble?
-
Those who had these issues say its been solved in the 169.01 drivers which are newer then 167.27, also allow overclocking, and some people say a bit better.
So you could try both see which one works for ya, I recommend getting the 169.01 first as its the latest and optimized for crysis -
it seems the people who are having trouble overclocking with 167.26 drivers are using Vista.
are you guys with Vista able to with the new 169.01? -
-
-
the 169.01 driver wont extract to my desktop. it says that it can't open it as an archive
-
Download them from laptopvideo2go.com along with the modded .inf. This should spare you from using the Have Disk method.
-
i tried re downloading but it wont extract to my desktop
-
turns out the download link does not link to the proper driver
it links to a 80kb exe file which wont extract or anything where as drivers are usually bigger then 20MB
Ive posted in the forums about this...we will see when it gets solved -
it will work if you download driver from there, and download modified inf from laptopvideo2go and replace the inf
EDIT: didnt work for me on xp since the link on lv2go for the inf is the x64 inf not the x86 like it claims to be -
Guys, you need to have a program able to extract the driver, like WinRAR. Also, I highly recommend downloading both the driver and the INF from LV2G.
Edit: Ahh, I see, you're saying the exe is corrupted? I don't want to install these drivers, but it seems I can download them just fine. They extract to a folder which appears to have all the right files in it. -
The drivers on laptopvideo2go are 7zip compressed self-extracting. They are having problem with the server right now I think so people can't get the complete files, instead they are getting some 700kb exes
-
we would but it doesnt work

HDMI Overscan NEW Method
Here is the new method for correcting overscan through HDMI on HDTV:
1. Switch to dualview mode with HDTV as secondary display
2. Go to "resize hdtv" in left pane
3. Click the "resize my desktop" radio button, click apply
4. Change to clone mode
THATS IT! This method works fine AND it actually sticks when you turn the laptop off or the tv off or disconnect it OR restart! IT STICKS!
Next Issue:
With the newer forceware drivers (167.26, 169.1) ANY resizing and not just my method results in the HDTV flickering in and out very badly when playing DVD movies or files in Windows Media Player. It only occurs if you resize and if you play in WMP not other media players.....I have already tried everything under the sun to fix it....copying older files over newer ones, modifiying .inf files, copying old .inf files over, different resize methods, all k-lite codec packages from 3.3.0 to 3.5.3....WHATEVER. Ill have to start annoying Nvidia again to fix this at a driver file level which means it will be forever before its fixed... -
So I'm trying to upgrade to 169.1 to see how well I can get Crysis going. Then I want to try to overclock for the first time. I downloade dthe driver, but it says it doesn't recognize the ahrdware, which I'm assuming is an INF issue. I looked on laptopvideo2go, but there are no INFs for 169. Any help?

You will be able to download the drivers and modded .inf from here. -
so to avoid reading 50 pages of replies to random questions which might include mine, in a nutshell, which driver should i install for my 8600GT?
my os is windows vista 32bit
2.2 ghz core 2 duo processor
2gigs ram
thank you! -
I downloaded the driver and the modded inf, but when I install the driver it says no changes have been made to my system...any thoughts? (I've tried uninstalling the stock driver and restarting).
-
Plays Stalker, ETQW & Race 2007 etc flawlessly
Find it on laptop2go community page (unless they have stuck it in the drivers section since i grabbed it) -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
.02 is just for the 8800 gt compatability.
-
I think so.. I will stick with 169.01 just don't want to go through all the hell again... this dude finds some minor improvement though
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=1429904&postcount=7
but then probably within the margin of error -
169.01 is much better
i can overclock just fine with rivatuner
...will run 3dm06 soon -
i'm lovin 169.01
reguar speed gpu: 3162 3d marks (06)

What program should i use to "stress" test my OC??
-
3dmark2006 can be used to stress your OC. Also, any of your favorite graphic intesive games help.
I usually run 3dmark2006 at least 3 times followed by playing Quake Wars for a good hour or two to make sure the new settings are good to go. I keep an eye on temperatures so I can see how the OC is affecting my system. I've also included Crysis in my tests and play around for a good 20-30 minutes in high settings to make sure everything is ok. -
Im having trouble with my x205 sli, everytime i finish a benchmark the video just freezes but i can still log off and move my mouse, but i can never see what my score is.
-
From what I have read briefly on my Vostro 1500 with 8600GT i should install 169.02, is this correct.
Other question is I mainly play startegies AOE3, company of Heroes, would I be better downgrading from Vista Business to XP to get better frame rates or will it not make much difference? -
dunno, personal preference....i'd go with xp for now -
If you like vista keep it, with a system like yours you wont notice much difference, maybe a couple extra frames but nothing substantial, on the other hand if you don't like vista then yep go for XP. People tend to switch to XP for gaming when the fps in XP makes the game playable rather than in Vista where it was unplayable for them. -
Because I like vista but in XP my games would work even better...
So: XP for gaming and Vista for work -
Im going to be doing the same thing but different os
Mac Leopard OS for everything, Windows vista or xp for games via bootcamp -
for me the switch back to XP improved my performance so much. under vista my computer was using 40% of my memory on idle. under XP, even with itunes and a bunch of other windows open, I barely use 25%. my games are also much more compatible... i don't have performance problems with random games.
-
Anybody got an external link to the newest XP drivers?
laptopvideo2go.com doesn't work for me, i guess it's down.
I'm running XP (could do Vista, just heard it wasn't as good for moblie gaming) on my MacBook Pro T7700 with 2GB RAM and 8600M GT. I can play Gears of War with the 162.13 drivers I found somewhere, but it says i need 163,44 but I cant find those. -
by the way, the ones you want to use are 169.04
-
The whole point is i can't access laptopvideo2go or I would just do it that way.
The site doesn't load, I guess it's down or something.
EDIT: I found 163.74 on megaupload until i can access LaptopVideo2Go.
But I was wondering if there was any reason I should run vista.
I have a 23GB partition for windows, and XP takes up about 3GB max while Vista takes up close to 10GB without deleting any system files I don't need. So unless there is a reason I should run vista for games like Gears of War or BF2, I'm staying with XP. -
is this drivers overclocking the graphics card? is it damage the card? And i heart that they are unofficial drivers, is it void the warranty if we brick the graphics card couse of heatin or something?
-
No it's just an updated version of the drivers.
NVidia doesn't support their laptop cards, the laptop manufacturer is supposed to provide them, but they don't.
