What is the best FPS that has the best gameplay and graphics? I would assume COD4 but I don't know much about gaming.

    EDIT: W00t 100 posts

Are you talking about RTS, as in real time strategy (e.g. Warcraft III, World in Conflict, etc.), or FPS, as in first-person shooter (e.g. COD4, Crysis, etc.)?

RTS? (thought this was a strategy post). COD4 could definetly be considered for best FPS. Might want to hold out and see how...gasp...treyarch does with COD5. I hear the early builds look good.

Yeah, I am playing through Crysis right now and it is pretty amazing not only graphically but gameplay-wise. :)

But it is VERY graphic intensive so be warned... although I hear that the sequel isn't nearly as bad that way. :D

Also, have you played through any of the Half-Life games yet?

Gothalo, the thread title that is shown on the Forum Index doesn't change, only your first post of the thread title, so in fact your thread would have continued to show "RTS" when people are browsing the Gaming forum. Moderators (I am one) can change the title for you completely so it shows up as "FPS" as the thread title and not just the first post of the thread.

    No problem, that's my job!

And although I don't play FPS, I can safely say Crysis too :p. Definitely for graphics, probably for gameplay!

    graphics---Crysis Warhead

gameplay--probably Orange Box for several single and multiplayer variations

(to be fair, gameplay is highly debatable/opinion)

Yeah if I were you I would definitely check out HL2 if you have time for nothing else...
But really the Orange Box from Valve is amazing and for a really great price too! ;)

Crysis is still Far Cry warmed over, and I still don't think it's a particularly great game.

The nexus of graphics and gameplay is gonna be either Call of Duty 4, Half-Life 2: Episode Two (Liverpool 0), or my personal favorite of the lot, Bioshock.

Of course, all that said, I have a newfound love of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, but will also play anything on the Doom 3 engine, so your mileage may vary.

I'd go with COD4, second is the half life 2 series. I don't like the gameplay of Crysis too much although it has the best graphic.

Crysis' gameplay is nothing spectacular. Pretty pedestrian, actually.

Come to think of it, Bioshock's gameplay aspect isn't really that great either. Quite run-of-the-mill. But the story more than makes up for it. Aaaand it's a really pretty game, if you like the whole art deco thing. The art direction is amazing. Crysis? Feh. Rocks and trees. Shiny rocks and trees, but rocks and trees nonetheless.

If you're looking for varied, interesting gameplay, I'd say TF2. It also has a pretty unique art style, and doesn't tax your GPU like Crysis does.

    Soooo...

    Gameplay - TF2
    Story - Bioshock
Graphics - Crysis if you like the great outdoors. A whole lot. In which case, why are you sitting at home playing videogames? Bioshock for art-deco/steampunk lovers, TF2 for Incredibles fans, Hexen for people still playing on Voodoo Banshees...

Call of Duty 4 is the best fps + graphics on PC.

The orange box is good, Crysis is good if your pc can run it well on high settings, but cod4 is great.

Oh yeah, I forgot about COD4... Once I started playing COD4, I just couldn't put it down. Had to be forced to go to bed, and was grumbling all the way XD Finished the SP over a couple of days. SP's regrettably short, but it wouldn't be as regrettable if it wasn't such an awesome experience.

COD4 is defently worth to go through ! :) Ive been through it twice and its really amazing. Couldn't stop until I finished, tho thats done quite fast sadly (think it took around 8-10 hours). Never the less if your looking for a great actionpacked FPS COD4 is great and IMO defently worth it! (I like "real-world" FPS games, much better than the sci-fi ones, not including HL-series tho) :)

Crysis, well ive started on it, but gave it up with the aliens beging to crawling all over the place... Its nice looking, but it didnt get me the same feeling as COD4... Would say its worth a look non the less :)

If you haven't been through the Half-Life series, you might want to take thoes up, great series ! :) Might wanna start all the way down with HL1, nothing special with the graphics (the game is from '98), but will get you through the full story :)

Bioshock i cant say much about, havent really played it, as the PC i had at the time of release was burning it self up, so couldnt really game... The demo seemed quite nice tho...

well, game play wise the single player in CoD 4 is amazing. but again if you factor in graphics given the fact that you have a monster PC then crysis + warhead (still really good gameplay but a little linear)

My vote goes for COD 4 and Orange Box. Between gameplay and graphices, these two games are well worth their money.

just get team fortress 2 from steam only $20, i consider it to be the best multiplayer fps experience, throw in CSS for $20 more, now u got the best online experience for $40 (NO MMO CRAP), or u can just buy one game which is cod4 for $50 your choice, me i play css/tf2 more than cod4, battlefield/singleplayer ... pass; online only

I have an 8600M GT (128MB) on my MacBook Pro, 4GB ram, 2.2ghz-

and I play COD4 with every single setting maxed out at 1440 x 613 (2.35 anamorphic widescreen) resolution and never really dip below 25fps.

P.S. And my card is just factory speed (no overclock), running 177.98 drivers from laptopvideo2go.

Yes, I was quite impressed the first time I started the campaign.

Crysis Warhead gets my vote. It really is the best, IMO. It's just that how many people can actually play it that high? So, don't get it twisted.

COD4 seems to be a hit. I've played it on my cousin's 360 and was amazed. Mainly because I don't own any next-gen consoles, and because I have an extremely outdated computer(about 8 years old). I finished campaign in about a week because I didn't play much but it was extremely fun. Multiplayer on the other hand seemed to be less interesting because there was no strategy whatsoever. You would just run off and kill everyone you see that isnt on your team. I would have liked it more if it was more strategic and had vehicles you could ride in. Also, campaign didnt have much replay value.
