Hello! I would like to know what some of your favorite online RPGs are. I am down with buying software, but I don't want to pay a subscription fee to play some great RPGs online. What would you recomend? I already have the Diablo Battle Chest with Diable II: Lords Of Descrution which I dig. Also, I am considering the purchase of City of Heroes. I would have to get some of those Time Cards to play online but it looks like it is an enjoyable game and I dig the way it is set up. I wouldn't mind spending the cash to play that online.
What would you recomend? I've been looking at Worlds of Warcraft but that costs money also. I may get that online once I find out the payment options though. If only it were running on Battle.Net. I would love to play a game like that for free (though, who wouldn't? I guess they have to make money too, and I support that idea to the fullest. Some games take the price a little over the edge though.)
Thanks in advance for all opinions! [|)]

I'm currently playing WoW. It's a great game, very fast paced for an MMORPG type of game. Lots of interesting things to do.
The major drawback to the game, is that it grew too big, wayyyy too fast for Blizzard to handle. As a result, there are sometimes quite a bit of lag. On some of the older servers the problem has mostly been resolved, but the newer ones suffer from major lag at times.
it's a fun game thou.

If I were to pay for an MMORPG, World of Warcraft would definately be it, without a doubt. As soon as I get a credit card I'll purchase 6 months in advance and binge play it.
-
The problem I have with the pay as you go MMORPGs is that you have to buy the game at 20.00+ and then you have to pay between 10.00 and 15.00 per month to play them.

That does suck, but it costs a ton of money to run those servers, I'd assume, and since there are paid members that will complain about any down time, they have to be maintained very well. I remember hearing a lot about customers whining when it was first released and the server issues they had. That would be crazy.
Guild Wars is looking pretty good. I'm definately picking that title up once it's released. I prefer my RPGs to be more action orientated like the Diablo series. -
Well, the whole point of a pay as you go game is that supposely the gaming world evolves. New stuff are added on a regular basis all the time. And it takes a hell of a lot of effort keeping a game like WoW running -- as they logged the most simultaneous online player at once: over 300k I believe.
That is a LOT of ppl at once! Of course I think half of their servers crashed... lol

Yes, I agree, and I don't mind paying to much as long as there is no intial purchase necessary.

Also every retail copy of WoW also comes with a free guest pass good for 15 days as well. It's a great marketing strategy lol... I bought my copy, give my guest pass to a friend, got him hooked on it -- he bought it after 15 days. rinse and repeat.
Btw anybody on Bloodscalp server on WoW?
lvl 25 paladin currently, school/work been busy, only logging 2hrs a day playing. lol

I play runescape, i thought it was terrible at first being used to Halo type graphics etc. But soon i was hooked 'trying to be the best'. The only problem I have with it si the amount of 'scammers' there are (people trying to get in-game items from other people by deceit). Anyone else play?
-
I have an account but I don't play anymore because that tutorial makes me mad. It's so long and the game runs slow. It's great for what it is but I'd prefer to play something else.
