Everyone that follows the gaming industry knows that ID software formed an "alliance" with Nvidia. Doom 3 was meant to be optimized on Nvidia cards and not on ATI cards. Its old news. However, Valve Software has an "alliance" with ATI. Thus, when Half Life 2 comes out, it will be optimized on ATI cards and Direct 3d. And let's be honest here. There will be no comparison in sales volume between Half Life 2 and Doom 3. D3 has all but lost its popularity.
-
Of course, it must be changed when new drivers updated.There is no discussion about your sentences...new hardwares,new drivers,new settings need new tests too...

Who cares about a 5 fps diffrents Between The two anyway

The same people that pay extra to get those cards. FPS makes a huge difference in first person shooters. Funny, they have the same acronym. Tell you anything[

Andrew, How did you cool your GPU!? You did it on a 8600? I also have a 8500 with a nVidia 4200go in it... That would be awsome to cool my 9800 down more too and overclock it, do you also know how to put desktop drivers onto a laptop and what kind of problems can that create????

interesting to see that the highest end video cards performed about the same on all the different quality settings

Well,I add some tests too,6600 gt sli and 6600 gt,I use double 6600GT in asus sli motherboard.And I noticed that double 6600gt sli gpu approximately equals 6800gt and more than 6800.And it s cheaper than 6800gt.Well here s the results of DOOM3 with sli and non sli.
DOOM III Benchmarks Demo 1 High Quality 1024*768 (32 bit)
Geforce 6600GT SLI 69.8FPS
Geforce 6600GT 67.1FPS
DOOM III Benchmarks Demo 1 High Quality 1280*1024 (32 bit)
Geforce 6600GT SLI 63.3FPS
Geforce 6600GT 47.7FPS
DOOM III Benchmarks Demo 1 High Quality 1600*1200 (32 bit)
Geforce 6600GT SLI 57.3FPS
Geforce 6600GT 38.7FPS

ouch lots of mails I take,,,well I m going to say below,please look at;
6600gt sli almost equals 6800gt,but 6800gt has 12 pipeline and if u have a chance u can open other 4 pipeline more,and make it 16 pipeline like 6800 ultra.And in the high resolutions and "aa-af" mode the difference in 6800gt s widening...Of course more pipeline means more power...
6600gt=8 pipeline
6800gt=12 pipeline
6800ultra=16 pipeline
and all these cards use 3.0 standart,please do not forget,ati doesnt use 3.0 standart,they use 2.0.3.0 standarts provide more brilliant,more crisp images.Life-like images...

Well, the order is in LGA 775 socket and 915P mainboards,the tests are going on this issue,performance in LGA 775 P5(HT) systems;
Samsung 19" crt 997df Ivory type
P5 3.2 (P4 HT 800Mhz 1mb Cache)
Gigabyte 915P duo Pci Express Mainboard
Sparkle 6600GT 500/1000mhz
1gb 3200 ddr ram 400mhz (2*512)
Philips DVDRW Double Layer 8.5gb per disc
420 watt ThermalTake PSU
160gb SATA Seagate 7200rpm 8mb tampon
coming soon.
(a rumor from Gigabyte,double GPU 6600GT chipset in a vga card
think that,u are going to use double vga card [it means 4 6600GT in same board] in mainboard,and Intel announced double cpu in same card,what the hell market goes to?ouch)Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
well done RealBelief mate,
I have upgraded my pc desktop in TURKEY recently...here s mine;
CPU: P4 3.4 (HT) 550 775lga
Mainboard: Asus
GPU:6800 ultra (16 pipeline)
Screen:21" LCD TV (widescreen) (horrible screen)
Ram:2 gb
Printer:Epson Photo X800
HDD:Sata 74*2 Western Digital 10000 rpm
Case:Sunbeam Laser Glass Case
PSU:480 ThermalTAKE
Cooler:6*fan,Ram vantec cooler,Hdd Vantec cooler,Zalman CPU water cooler
regards.

RealBrief,
double 6600gt sli is really good and cheap choice for pc desktops. Especially I have tested double 6600gt sli is in front of single 6600gt with %80,and %20 more than ati x850xt...What an amazing good result. But u must not forget,double 6600gt sli needs more cooling system in case,u must hold temperature under 55...
I have added a "vanteq-double fan" cooler pci card near double 6600gt.It reflects directly to gpu and draw its temp. to 42 degree...
regards
