I used to be an avid gamer, but haven't had much time for gaming over the last two years because of school and because my computer didn't have a very good GPU.
So for the last two years, I paid very little attention to gaming. The newest games I've played are Oblivion, Battlefield 2, and Call of Duty 4.
A lot of games have been released since then. Right now I'm looking at Fallout with curious eyes.
What recent games do you recommend?

Since Call of Duty 4, hmm I take it you would have played the orange box and World in Conflict. The likes of Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead and Empire Total War come to mind.
Worthy mentions:
Crysis for a graphics
Far Cry 2 and Call of Duty: World at War (depending on who you talk to).
GTA4 if your computer can handle it
Fallout 3 would certainly be worth playing if you liked Oblivion. -
Checkout Bioshock, the sequel is dropping this fall. As for Fallout3, people either love it or hate it, personally I love it. Plants vs Zombies is a simple yet very addicting /fun game, you can check out the demo.
Bioshock
Fallout3
Crysis Series
Mass Effect
Left 4 Dead -
hi,
if u liked Oblivion, then Fallout3 is definitely going to impress u.
also i think The Witcher is an excellent game. -
I will second the Witcher, awesome game.
-
Bioshock, Mass Effect
the top 2 of me -
I'd go for the Witcher (Enhanced Edition) and Dead Space.
-
i say every one of them mentioned
-
Bioshock and Mass Effect are probably the best two games that have come out in the last few years. (besides Cod4, of course
)
-
Another one to look at is Company of Heroes. Just ordered Tales of Valor since I found it cheap on play.com~
-
Get yourself a copy of orange box right away.
-
Fallout will just take a lot of your time. It's 'good' but not a great game.
If you are into FPS, get Team Fortress 2 and Left4dead. Those two will keep you busy for a while! -
Orange Box, Left 4 Dead, Bioshock, Mass Effect , etc
-
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky and
STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl
dead space -
ill agree that you will like fallout3 if you liked oblivion....i played fallout3 first and loved it so someone recommended oblivion....that was several months ago, needless to say i am still working on completing oblivion.
fallout 3 is a shorter game than oblivion and the storyline is not quiet as good IMO, but it is still a good game. it made me go back and buy fallout 1, 2 and tactics. -

sorry to hijack, is mass effect a game where a walkthrough is needed or is it more linear and fast?
-
I hope this helps.

Ball in a Cup
You kids and your high tech gadgetry are missing all the real good games.
I mean how much more fun can you possibly have than trying to get a ball in a cup.
But I guess you could also try a few other games like
> CoD4
> The Orange Box
> Dead Space (Dead Space > BioShock)Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

Never mind games in the last two years, try the last 10. However, I recommend Brothers In Arms Hells Highway for a more recent title.

maybe lost planet

Be warned though it's a very unforgiving game and more of an FPS then RPG. Also it's buggy as all hell. Besides that it's alot of fun.
Someone mentioned the Witcher. I played the demo. Now I hate point and click games....ALOT...But this game was actually alot of fun. It's got a cool combat setup. I'd suggest checking out the demo. -

Mass Effect is a must-play AAA title, followed by Fallout 3 and (a distant third) Dead Space.
-
well I don't really like most of the games people here have mentioned... but I really like Neverwinter Nights 2 (bit over 2 years old) and the expansions are really good (less than 2 years for sure)... just as good as NWN1, and the old Baldur's Gate games.
-
Left 4 dead!
-
i like
plants vs. zombies -
I just got assassins creed.... interesting story/gameplay so far..... also Zombie Shooter hahaha.... addicting Diablo 2 gameplay with guns and zombies..... I can also def say that Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway had a good story and pretty fun gameplay...... and if we are talking about the last 20 years give any of the Marathon games a go
..... Im trying to beat them all again.... and best is that they are all free but require an emulator
-
yea, like alotta ppl said, play bioshock then bioshock 2 wen that comes out for sure. If you've been out a while, you probably missed out on the orange box... which is definitely still above average in the fun area. if you havent played portal you should. and it comes with TF2, which alotta ppl still play. Theres nothing im personally waiting on thats new except maybe, l4d2, and bioshock 2... Of course my biggest wait is that for Starcraft 2, which is finally, supposedly, possibly, should, might, actually be released before this year is out... and as you can tell, i say that with much hesitation
