Assuming you don't mind low, low settings, TF2 should be playable, considering it's on the Source engine.

GTA: San Adreas probably wouldn't work, but I know that GTA: Vice City will.

Call of Duty...maybe. FarCry will play at lowish settings if you update it to the latest versions.

I'm not sure about the others...sorry!

    That's Unreal Tournament 2004.

If you haven't heard of the Unreal Tournament franchise, you better google it up!

    Long story short:
It's a fast and frantic online FPS (or offline with bots).

probably one of the most famous series for multiplayer online FPS.

    very fast pace fragfest. :)

it pretty much gets you skilled up for other FPS games with more reflexes and tactics.

You can play it single player against bots (from beginner to godlike difficulty), or go online and play with A LOT of people.

    More info here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unreal_Tournament_2004

    and here:
    http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/ut2004/review.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=tabs&tag=tabs;reviews

Its successor has just been released to the public with the Unreal Tournament 3 (UT3) beta demo.

UT04 engine is also used by architects for real time animations. but garry's mod is probably better, and that apparently runs on GMA 950 so im pretty impressed.

I don't know about carbon, but a friend of mine had a packard bell 17'' laptop with a 3500+ sempron, 1gb of ram and a radeon xpress 200m graphics(which is similar to the gma950), and nfs mw ran pretty smoothly(on 640x480 and all details to low, unfortunately). But intel igp's sometimes have problems with certain games so i'm not sure how if will run on yours

My roommate bought the Orange Box at my suggestion (before I could ask him what video card he had), so I've had the pleasure (ha :( ) of trying to make his games playable.

Team Fortress 2 is not playable on the GMA 950. At the very lowest settings @ 640x480 he averages around 7 FPS. (can get as high as 20 if he's staring at a wall, but you can hardly play like that :p ). I've tried forcing DX8 mode ( -dxlevel 80 in the launch options) but it crashes as soon as you enter a map. If I can get it working, I'm hoping DX8 might move it up into the playable range.

Half-Life 2 runs surprisingly well (still looks like crap, but it's playable). Portal can get really choppy at some points, but it's playable for the most part.

It isn't even 3D so should work marvelously on a Pentium 100. Just behold 640x480 sprite graphics at its best.

Here u go. Settings on high (all) and resolution at 1200x789. Its playable alright but sometimes it gets laggy. Fps around 8-17 (very low), so it means its not playable online. You need to lower resolution for online gameplay :)
    In conculsion its OK.

No CS:S and no DOOM3. Though it handles Tetris like a pro.

It's freaking 5 years old. Of course the graphics are going to look dated.

Oh lets see...You claim to be running Half Life 2 at Dx9 high settings 1280x800 at 25+ fps. That contradicts what every other GMA user experiences and even Intel themselves....

Also, where are all these people also running HL2 at those settings (1280x800, high, dx9, on GMA950?)

Pro benchmark here: Dx8 (much slower), NOT Dx9, and only 800x600 - and still, somehow mysteriously, performing at 20fps. I think this contrasts with your claims of dx9 1280x800 high settings, don't you? Or are you some sort of tech guru that knows something that everyone else here and those guys dont?

Oh but wait, there's even more! Here's Far Cry, running at 800x600 - at a muscular 10fps on GMA950! Wait, didn't you claim you were running high settings? Yes, you did! So please get a freaking life I think this is evidence enough of your trolling.

Everything you've said is true, don't worry, you're fine! You said yourself that BF1924 runs not great at high settings, but you find it playable. That's fine, and it accurately reflects the GMA's capabilities, as known to the community. On the other hand we have Beatsiz here claiming he's running games at high settings that came out years AFTER BF1942....

Well not to sound like a jerk, but if you really wanted to game, you should have spent the extra $50 and gotten a dedicated card. You don't need the 8600GT to play decently new games at moderate settings, but the 8400GS or something similar wouldn't have set you back too much and would work nicely... ;)
    Just my two cents...

As far as what would run... Check out Jagged Alliance 2. That is a fun game X-Men Legends 2 is fun and that might work... Not sure, Max Payne (2 should work as well), Mafia, Fable might work, Anarchy Online is free and it would work... Freespace 2 is awesome and that would work... Descent 3 would work as well.

    Come on, we're not idiots.

I've seen you all over the forums with the most ridiculous claims/lies. You're misleading people who are geniunely interested in buying a new laptop.

Back on topic, C&C Generals can run alright on a GMA950, and the expansion pack runs even better. Not the most amazing game, but it was good a few years ago. :D
