i would like to know which games (the best ones) are playable on the GMA 950....

Star Wars: Empire at War
Call of Duty
GTA: san andreas
Counter Strike
etc....
i've been playing bf1942 and warrock OK.

Assuming you don't mind low, low settings, TF2 should be playable, considering it's on the Source engine.
-
GTA: San Adreas probably wouldn't work, but I know that GTA: Vice City will.
Call of Duty...maybe. FarCry will play at lowish settings if you update it to the latest versions.
I'm not sure about the others...sorry! -
i couldnt load half of the games i tried on it, and that was almost 2 years ago.....
-
Serisouly... no one takes me serious on this
I play Farcry med settings
HL2 med settings
Garrys mod (for hl2) high settings
Call of duty (mostly high)
Trying to get Quake wars to run on it...
Well.,. at least ima say byebye to this lappie soon
NVIDIA!!! I SAY IF YOU DONT BRING YOUR NEW GPU's BY CRYSIS LAUNCH... I PRONOUNCE ATI THE WINNER -
hehe, well thx for the help really, i just dont know which game to buy right now (cuz i have money right now

We have in-game screenshots with the GMA 950 and know exactly how powerful of a card it is. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=139768

UT2004 plays fine on GMA950

If you haven't heard of the Unreal Tournament franchise, you better google it up!
Long story short:
It's a fast and frantic online FPS (or offline with bots). -
probably one of the most famous series for multiplayer online FPS.
very fast pace fragfest.
it pretty much gets you skilled up for other FPS games with more reflexes and tactics.
You can play it single player against bots (from beginner to godlike difficulty), or go online and play with A LOT of people.

Its successor has just been released to the public with the Unreal Tournament 3 (UT3) beta demo. -
BAAAH! Crysis is the best and foremost important FPS
lol jk
-
UT04 engine is also used by architects for real time animations. but garry's mod is probably better, and that apparently runs on GMA 950 so im pretty impressed.
-
Just finished having sooo much fun... Its fantastic =) -
well, the game sounds great. I went to gamespot and saw stuff, not bad. I just might buy that game after all
im also into racing type of games, is NFS: carbon playable on GMA 950?? maybe NFS: most wanted? -
I don't know about carbon, but a friend of mine had a packard bell 17'' laptop with a 3500+ sempron, 1gb of ram and a radeon xpress 200m graphics(which is similar to the gma950), and nfs mw ran pretty smoothly(on 640x480 and all details to low, unfortunately). But intel igp's sometimes have problems with certain games so i'm not sure how if will run on yours

what about Rome total war? ITs like empire total war except in roman times, I ran it on like low settings and I had a GMA 900
-
-
thx.... im still into searching stuff. u guys have helped quite alot tho.
i downloaded nfs: underground 2 just awhile ago. the game is OK(playable on high settings) , but its just a demoanyway im able to play online.
-
Rome total war is on Intel's List of playable games, but i doubt you can run it anything above low settings
-
-
has anyone tried team fortress 2?
-
haha+ .... i would say the same cuz i had a psp before
total war is curious. What about AoE3?? is it playable? (i hope it is) -
haha! lol
Well.. I mean, a friend of mine had something wrong with his pc and got a resolution of 420*240 on his huge 28inch screen... man I had to step back 10 feet to kinda see how stuff went together and where the buttons to click where -
How bout StarCraft?
-
yea.... could be, im gonna check that.
anyway, i'll be posting some pics here.... how do i put them? -

) of trying to make his games playable.
Team Fortress 2 is not playable on the GMA 950. At the very lowest settings @ 640x480 he averages around 7 FPS. (can get as high as 20 if he's staring at a wall, but you can hardly play like that). I've tried forcing DX8 mode ( -dxlevel 80 in the launch options) but it crashes as soon as you enter a map. If I can get it working, I'm hoping DX8 might move it up into the playable range.
Half-Life 2 runs surprisingly well (still looks like crap, but it's playable). Portal can get really choppy at some points, but it's playable for the most part. -
-
i really wont to buy AoE3 but it looks like its not playable -
StarCraft - LOL!
It isn't even 3D so should work marvelously on a Pentium 100. Just behold 640x480 sprite graphics at its best. -
BATTLEFIELD 1942
Here u go. Settings on high (all) and resolution at 1200x789. Its playable alright but sometimes it gets laggy. Fps around 8-17 (very low), so it means its not playable online. You need to lower resolution for online gameplay
In conculsion its OK.
i hope i put it correctly -
i'm soooooooo looking forward to sc2 -
WOW those screens look amazingly bad to me... I mean... I play garrys mod on high and stuff... it looks like a game only about 1yrs old... its about 4-5 years ....
-
Snood, chess, Tetris, Pac-Man, CS:S, and maybe Doom3
-
Windows 3d Pinball SPACE CADET might be playable...

Also, where are all these people also running HL2 at those settings (1280x800, high, dx9, on GMA950?)
Pro benchmark here: Dx8 (much slower), NOT Dx9, and only 800x600 - and still, somehow mysteriously, performing at 20fps. I think this contrasts with your claims of dx9 1280x800 high settings, don't you? Or are you some sort of tech guru that knows something that everyone else here and those guys dont?
Oh but wait, there's even more! Here's Far Cry, running at 800x600 - at a muscular 10fps on GMA950! Wait, didn't you claim you were running high settings? Yes, you did! So please get a freaking life I think this is evidence enough of your trolling.

I'd like to see a video of your GMA950 running HL2 at High with a fraps fps counter. Until then I don't believe it.
-
hmmmmm, this screenshots got you guys in disagreement alot LOL. I know it isnt the best but i like, thats what i care really.
p.s i might post pics of warrock...... -
-
For all those GMA 950 owners:
"It just isnt that bad..." -
What's the point of gaming on a GMA950?
-
-
Well not to sound like a jerk, but if you really wanted to game, you should have spent the extra $50 and gotten a dedicated card. You don't need the 8600GT to play decently new games at moderate settings, but the 8400GS or something similar wouldn't have set you back too much and would work nicely...
Just my two cents...
As far as what would run... Check out Jagged Alliance 2. That is a fun game X-Men Legends 2 is fun and that might work... Not sure, Max Payne (2 should work as well), Mafia, Fable might work, Anarchy Online is free and it would work... Freespace 2 is awesome and that would work... Descent 3 would work as well. -
I've seen you all over the forums with the most ridiculous claims/lies. You're misleading people who are geniunely interested in buying a new laptop.
Back on topic, C&C Generals can run alright on a GMA950, and the expansion pack runs even better. Not the most amazing game, but it was good a few years ago.
