Whats your favorite aspect ratio for gaming and whatnot, should it become the standard? Why do you dislike other ratios over that one?
-
I go with 16:10, it seems to fit my eyes FOV perfectly, and Its not too wide, yet its not a rectangle.
Quality is good, and if I run games like fear 2 in it, I run them 1920x1080 (not 1920x1200) and I get small black bars at bottom and top and it makes the game feel more realistic/movie like, I like it. -
way to leave out the most widespread res, 16:10.
-
I think you made up a lot of those aspect ratios without realizing it.
1920x1080 is 16:9 not 15:9
Should be
16:10
16:9
4:3 -
Not much diff between 16:9 and 10 as far as games go but the latter gives you a little more room to work docs. I say support them all.
-

You have an MSI GT735. The native resolution of the display is 1680x1050.
This is a 16:10 resolution.
1680/16 = 105
1050/10 = 105
16/10 = 1.6
1680/1050 = 1.6
I have never heard of displays with a 15:9 or 14:9 aspect ratio, but they may be out there. -
I said 4:3. CRT's are still the bomb when it comes to gaming.
-
1920x1200 is 16:10 -
Oh your right, I thought it was 15:9 because I use the 15:9 ratio in GTAIV. Some reason Auto made it go too squished. Yea its 16:10.
Needa Go have my Coffee. Im a wrek.

Okay...
1920x1200
1920/16 = 12
1200/10 = 12
16/10 = 1.6
1920/1200 = 1.6
1920/15 = 128
1200/9 = 133.3(cont)
NOT 15:9 -
For gaming, I actually prefer the much maligned 16:9, but gaming isn't the ONLY thing I use my laptop for. Webpages and Docs are much better in 4:3, so 16:10 is a pretty good compromise
-
I needa have my coffee.
-
16:9 all the way.
I can't wait until 2.39:1 becomes mainstream.
-
-
16:9. It has the least amount of compromise (loss of screen real-estate to black bars or stretching to fit) compared to any other ratio when taking all popular aspect ratios into account. It is also very close to the golden ratio (which is 16:10, but that ratio loses quite a bit when viewing other ratios), which makes it aesthetically pleasing.
-
16:10, good compromise for everything, gaming, watching movies, viewing web pages, working in productivity apps, etc.
-
Other--16:10
-
I love my 16:10
-
for me, it depends on the game, 16:9 or 16:10 for fps, a wide fov always helps(for games that support real widescreen, not just chopping off the top and bottom). 4:3 for other games. -
16:10 is the most supported, so I like that one.
-
There's really only:
5:4 (and 1280x1024 is about it)
4:3 (most legacy resolutions are this: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, etc)
16:10 (most newer resolutions are this: 1280x800, 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1050 etc)
16:9 (alternate newer res: 1366x768, etc)
I don't recognize 15:9 or 14:9 for PC's anywhere. -
16:10 all the way.
-
Either 16:10 or the old 4:3. To be honest, I've never noticed that big a difference between the 2, but I don't jack up the resolution that high anyways >.>
-
Coming back from 16:9 on the HDX16 to 16:10, I can safely say I prefer 16:10.
-
16:10 seems to be the winner.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
16:10.
Love it. -
as long as its widescreen doesnt matter to me, absolutely detest 4:3 though
-
16:10 for most newer games. however i cannot play older games like diablo 2 and baldur's gate on a widescreen. this is the reason why i keep the T4
-
You stole my idea
BTW: This POLL sucks... it is completely useless, there are only 2 mainstream aspect ratios...
PS: 16:10 is the PC winner, it is widescreen, has an additional 120 vertical pixels which helps when viewing websites, can use 1:1 pixel ratio when wanting to view true 1080p content... -
-
4:3 used to be more convenient for getting desktop wallpapers and running games right off without widescreen tweaks for me, but I'm used to my 16:10 (8:5?) resolution now and don't like the current trend of notebooks going the 16:9 route.
-
I've only played on 4:3 and then 16:10, so I would pick 16:10
