I have an Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950 in my Dell E1705 and I guess it's fine, but I like to watch DVD's on my laptop. Is there a card that would best server this purpose? I want the best card for what i use the laptop for, but I do not believe a GeForce 7800 is necessary.

    Agree/Disagree?

the ati x1400 is pretty good (good on battery life, and can do hardware decoding for DVD's)

Nothing more than an integrated card is needed for viewing DVDs. Most DVD decoding is done by the software.

Agree with syxbit for the good battery life and hardware decoding and with zazonz when all you're watching DVDs, the intel intergrated should be fine.

GMA 900 serves very well for watching DVD, and glossy screen would add your excitement.

ATI X1K series offer good hardware dvd playback with their AVIVO. Cheapest option would be the X1300.

But personally I'd just stick with integrated, unless you wanted to game.

Yeah, unless you want to game, stick to the integrated card. It runs cooler and also uses less power as benefits versus a dedicated card.
