Ok, well I have been looking around for awhile, and I wanted to see if there are any core duo laptops out there that have a better graphics card than the ati x1400 for under $1500. I dont really need to fill out the FAQ as I am only concerned with the graphics card as of now. Thanks for all the help

The E1705 has the 7800(with 750 dollors off you can get it down to $1150), but really, my x1400 has never had trouble with any of todays recent games. Today I have played Counter Strike: Source, AND I played Oblivion on high detail. Oblivion is pushing it, but only when weather changes, or when it is night time.

A lot of serious gamers will say that the X1400 is weak, but I struggle in making it struggle =P

Thanks for the help. I seem to hear a lot of negative talk about the x1400 so I wanted to see if I could do any better in my price range. I like the e1705 and have considered it, but am debating if the size is worth it or not. The only games I would really be playing are Halo and Counter Strike: Source. I have looked in the other threads and I know the x1400 would play these, but was just concerned about the level of detail and framerates. I might just end up with the x1400 but I want to check out all my options.

Dell is probably going to be your best solution as far as cost and hardware are concerned. They're not the best, but they do the job. MSI has finally released it's MS-1039, which might be just a little over your budget for a machine. (I've heard as low as $1600 for the best specs, if you build it yourself) The 1039 has a ATI x1600 256 MB GPU. I would go with the Dell though.

Another vote for dell unfortunately, though the Acer 5672 is pretty good as well.

halo and CS source really shouldn't have much trouble on an x1400. my x300 plays halo fine with decent settings and if i OC it a bit, it's perfect

Any of the older Pentium M systems with an x700 or 6600, such as an Asus z70va, or Quanta KN1-PM, will give you better performance under $1500.

Something like the Asus Z70va will offer better quality than the Dell or Acer though it is not Core Duo.

Right now you can get the Sager NP5320 for $1,287.98 with the following:

It's a great deal, and even though it is previous generation hardware, the X700 is still a very powerful card and will beat out an X1400 any day.

Although, if you're willing to go 17", then the Dell E1705 with the Go7800 is the way to go.
